I was at the test and tune and lined up with a 9 second vette. I took him off the light with a great reaction time, I pulled a perfect light and he got a .980 reaction. He flew by me ,lost control and came into my lane, almost hitting my car. He crossed my lane and wiped out in the dirt just passed the 1/4 mile mark.
Luckily the guy was OK which is more than I can say for his car. Pretty scary,

I was racing a 94 camaro and we were runing on a 3ln road and the 3rd ln started to merege in front of use and this taxi was coming over and he was going 55mph or around there and I was going(well over 85) and I had to slam on my brakes well stand on my brakes more like. He must have seen me he got over pretty fast cause the camaro did not have to hit his stop peddle at all and kept going. if he would have not moved over then I would have rear end him at around 95+ mph . my heart was going so fast I had to pull over and smoke about a half of a pack of smokes and sit there to let me calm down. it took me 6mnths to even do a slight run on the street slowing down at around 75-85mph and now in all better

My worst racing experience was my first time at the track. I pulled up to the woman who cleared me to go, and told me "left lane." I had NO clue what I was doing, so I drove up to the lane, and drove right through the water box. The man at the staging lanes yelled at me. I told the guy it was my first time out. He said, "All you do is prestage, stage, boom, boom, go! Got it?" I said, "uhh...ok..." and pulled up to prestage. I did, then I staged, then kept creeping, and redlighted. The other car took off, and I sat there, cause I thought I would get another turn! The guy walked up to my stang and said, "what are you doing?? Clocks running man, go!" So I went, I could see all the people in the stands laughing at me, and I pulled an 18.7@97!! My 60' was 4.5!! The other guy I was up against was in a tubbed something and pulled a 10.0@133!!! Basically, I lost by 87 carlengths!! It was ugly and embarrasing!!

My scariest was probably when i first had my 418. Launched the car perfectly and then around the 500ft mark it shot sideways so i figured if i just peddle it, it would come back around..uh no. It went even more sideways so i let completely out of it and crossed the centerline. That by far was the scariest..I was traveling around 152 at the time. both stages were kicked in and it was hauling the mail. but luckily no one got hurt.

I was the passenger in a nitrous injected, 6-71 blown 427 Vega. It did a 9 second pass, with me in the passenger seat. That was enough for me.
Take care, -Chris

God, what is that like?? I'm sure youve been in an 11 sec car (as have I) is there any comparison, or is a nine second car just rediculous?? I can't even imaging what that's like.

On the way home from school, you top a hill and there is a set of sweepers. From the top of the hill you can see if there are any cars coming. ANYWAY...one of my best friends had just passed me in his sister Maxima...so I thought I'd blow by him in the corners. Well backed off and got a running start. I came around him(on the outside of the corner, REAL smart ). I looked over mid corner to see if I could get back over. Well I didn't take into account that the corner got sharper, I looked back over to see the side of the road coming at me at 85mph. So it stabed the brakes for a second. This threw all the weight to the front of the car and brought the rear-end around. I was at about a 45 degree angle in the road doing 75mph. NOT fun. I belive that if I wouldn't have kept my foot on the gas, that it would have come all the way around...or a least to the point where I couldn't correct it.
That is my scariest car related thing to date. On July 27th it will be surpasted by the ride that I'm gonna take in RadicaGT's low 7 second car

This wasn't a race, but it still scared the crap out of me. My buddie and I were coming back from a psudo-vacation in Maryland. We were on I75 a bit north of Gainsville at about 2:30am. We were doing about 65-70 with me driving Bill's 93 Talon.
Out of the blue we get buzzed by a white Acura(I think) doing about 110. We decided to use him as a bird dog as long as possible, (i.e. following at the same speed but a ways back, and letting him attract the cops). So we were trucking along floating between 105 and 115, fat, dumb and happy. This lasted for about 10-15 minutes, until we got a decent ways past Gainsville, and then I found out why FHP paints their cars the brown and gold. When they come charging up from the ditch between the lanes, chasing the car 1/4 mi ahead of you, the brown blends with the grass, and the gold with the oncoming lane. I started downshifting and jump on the brakes. By the time we started coming even with the cruiser, I thought we were down to a decent speed and glance at the speedo-80mph.Not quite there yet. I could see the cop trying to decide between the car he had on radar, and the car coming up on him standing on its nose and tached all to he**. Thank god he finally decided to go after the Acura. Needless to say we were more than a bit freaked. We did 70 the rest of the way home. Sorry to be so verbose, but thats just the way I write. Jorge |

A kid i know got an 85 v6 camaro, thinking he is in a race car he passes me and my in my 90 gt with 4 of my friends in my car. so i decide **** it im gonna make him feel stupid. so i get on it through traffic doing about 85-90 cutting threw traffic to make my way to the front where it is pretty much open. the kid sees me coming so he nails it, fat chance. i blow past him going about 110. so i start to let off and im just gonna let it roll and slow down. i get close to an intersection where a guy is getting ready to make a u-turn at this time im going 105 . and the guy decides to start for his u-turn then decides to stop so im like good, but then he goes for i by this time i got about 50 feet before this guy is gonna kiss his passanger door i hit the breaks and all i see is smoke from the tires. he looks at me and he jaw hit the floor he floored it and i start hugging the curb we missed this guy by 2 feet at the most at 100+. i have decided unless its from a light and only going to about 80 and not crossing another intersection i might race but after that i say **** driving like that anymore. i have had some close calls but that was a little to close.

As far as the power, I really couldn't say for sure, but it had to be at least 900hp. It was a VERY built 427, with a yitload of nitrous, AND a 6-71 roots blower. He had over 20psi of boost, which means it really was about 1000 cubic inches of displacement, plus juice! it was very cool, but very scary, too. It a very-hard-to-explain way, it was a very long nine seconds. Take care, -Chris

So my story isn't a race, but it was kinda scary.
I was getting on the freeway in Capo Beach about 12.30 in the morning. Running the Escort hard, somewhere between 50-60, got no dash lights right now. The on ramp is a decreasing radius right hander, but it is farily wide. Still on the gas in the corner, my front end starts to push, and I back off. Then it bites, the back end swings out, and I'm looking at things to hit out the rear glass. I did countersteer as it was coming, but with FWD, there was really no helping the back end. I'm not sure if I did a 180 or 540, but I aimed for a spot between two lightpoles, and ended up in the dirt, looking back down the ramp at a cloud of blue somke wafting up like fog. The car didn't hit anything, so I fired it back up and figured I'd best split before the cops got there. Went back the next day (in the other car) and was impressed with the skidmarks. My friends still refuse to ride with me

my worst was in my thunderbird. I was 16 and invincable.
I was going to mcdonalds for lunch with some friends and I had my course layed out, nowhere for cops to sit, always a good place to speed like hell. so I used to go about 75-80on the lil 35MPH road. well. I was on my route that is almost never traveled. but comming up fast was an old pickup with a trailer..... so being the drinving God I thought I was I just decided to pass him. I'm all happy and watching the road.... just not what is ON the road.... Chris was next to me and said "dog" it didnt click till he yelled "DOG" at me, some old *** yellow dog was crossing the street. so I ripped the wheel to miss it, just barely missed the pickup. only problem is that my back right tire went off the road and caught the gravel. back end came around and I yenked the wheel to correct. knowing I had a pickup comming at me if I stopped, and I would stall if I did a 180 I dropped the car into neutral and tried to regain control. I did end up getting control going backwards looking at the fragrently swearing pickup driver. riping the wheel hard to swing myself around again, I put it back into gear and hit the gar HARD. correcting back to going forward the power bit the wheels and pushed me in front of the pickuo who just so VERY lightly tapped my bumper as the car accellerated. never a day in my life had I passed up lunch till then. This hasn't included any wrecking stories, but I'll ignore that and write about mine.
The area: downhill...had about a 30 degree turn to the left. The road was "armor-chipped" the previous day. This is where they put down a layer of tar then spread small rocks (about 1/2" in size) over it. It's supposed to protect the road during winter. It is very loose for about a month until enough traffic has packed it down. It was about 12:15 p.m. on a hot August 8, 2001 afternoon. I was going down the hill about 10-15 mph, my auto was in the D position and in 2nd gear. I had 2 passengers. We were going to the gym to play some basketball. I'm about half way through the turn and I give it about half throttle. This caused the transmission to kickdown and the rear tires busted loose on the rocks. The Traction-Lock rear end caused the back end of the car to swing around about 135 degrees. I slid across the road and the front passenger wheel hit the curb, that caused the back end of the car to swing further around and hit the curb. After the curb there was about a foot incline of dirt into an open lot. The car climbed up the incline, tipped on the passenger 2 wheels, stalled, then rolled over onto it's lid. The passenger in the front received a broken finger and 17 stitches in the palm of his hand. I didn't have any injuries besides some glass in my back, neither did the passenger in the rear seat. I do believe that it was God's plan though, everything happens for a reason, even though it's hard to find...I'm ending up with better car now and I have definitely learned a WHOLE LOT about other things. I realize I'm not invinvible, like most teenagers think and I appreciate what I have a lot more than I did before too. |

Coming home one evening...
I had a little rice-box on my tail. i was driving the 'GOROBGO' LX, which has skinnies and no swaybar...i decided to shake them with my HP going into some tight turns! 3.5" tires were not made for turning. i wound her up to the top of second and prepared for the turn coming up, a hard left followed by a similarly radiussed right. there is a steep embankment on the right side of the road.as I aimed the nose of the car toward the apex of the turn, it didn't budge, just pushed...frantic, i stabbed the brakes, but the little pizza-cutters simply locked up, leaving two inch-wide black stripes going straight across the yellow stripes toward the embankmant...I pumped at the brakes and burned off a bit of speed, but hit the embankment hard with the right side of the nose of the old 'stang! Dirt flew through the air, the 'stang was launched into the air at a 45* angle, and i thought it might roll if not landed properly (thanks to Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now! i am experienced). i angled the steering wheel toward the left until just after the front touched down, that brought the rear of the vehicle down hard, then a hard right to stay out of opposing traffic's lane...at this point, the riceboys pulled alongside, prolly laughed pretty good, and drove off. I was fine, the car was pretty beaten up with a crunched fender, flat tire on a crushed front rim...I gave it some gas and limped home on the damaged wheel...
