Default Wheel hop problem

I have a friend with an 85 GT also and he is getting tremendous wheel hop from the rear end when he punches it. This is on street radials with stock suspension. He has changed all 6 shocks with kyb's. Does it sound like bushings?, or could it be a bent axle?

He probably has worn uppers and lowers,I would replace them and the stock rear springs, that will eliminate wheel hop.

I got massive wheel hop in second gear at the strip with my stock 89 gt with 245/50/16 falkens at the dragstrip. I lowered the tire pressure from 30 to 20lbs and the wheel hop went away. That was with good upper and lowers.

Don't think it was that massive with a stock gt....j/k . Did you have the stock springs in there still? That does really make a difference.

well the thing is this car did not have the wheel hop problem, its a problem that developed with all the same equipment and tires and psi in them.

could have a bent control arm, that happened with my friends 85 coupe, also replaced his rear springs and started cutting 1.6's with ease.
