Why are people so scared of Cobra's?
Last night I raced a 197? Brand X truck. I only raced him because he wanted to see what she had. and it wasn't even a good race, it was over before I even got out of second gear. POO ON GM!!
No one else here wants to race a Cobra, unless it's another Cobra. People are kitty cats! SPRAY AND PRAY!!! |

Sounds like you have a pretty fast car there. My father-in-law's car is HELLA FAST!! I could go on forever about it. But I've had more races in that car, and it would run circles around my Cobra. I guess it's just the image of the car, who knows?

Nah, nothing special yet. Still not sure which direction I want to head in yet. I've thought about alot of different ways to go, you now, full on drag, street monster, coner carver, road race(silver state), etc. I'm getting most of my ideas from my father in law, we are thinking about waiting until the motor goes down and replace it with a 351 and make it a Cobra R wannabe. Sound good?

You have to turn the screw on your throttle body. You are supposed to disconnect the negative battery first to reset the cpu.

I have no problem racing Cobra's except for the fact that I don't run across to many in my area. The two or three I have run across were driven by old women or men. By the way that is meant as no problem racing them not beating them.
What's really funny is I've had a handful of LS1 and LT1 cars back off from racing me even though the LS1 guys with a good driver and some mods will kill my car. Yeah I don't have any problem racing them. There's a guy around here with '97 I think and he thinks he's hot **** . Until I caught him at a light. He didn't know what to think. There's this kid around here that just got a new 2001 camaro SS. Man he thinks that no one can touch him. I still haven't caught him but I really want to. Should be a good race...but I think I can take him.

I haven't raced anyone in a Mustang with my cobra yet, and I know of at least 10-15 Stang bangers out here that'll walk all over me. Yet when we pull up to a light, they just shy away. What kind of poo is that?

My friend has a 95 cobra with an off road H pipe, cold air setup, and all the goodies that come with the Cobra and I beat him with only an H pipe, cpu chip, k&n, and msd coil Plus I had all my trans stuff too. Go figure. He should have killed me but he didnt catch me untill we were hitting 5th gear and the qtr was way over by then.

Hey, I know how your feeling, I dont get any races in my car either. I think people are afraid of the big Saleen window sticker. Instantly "Supercharged" and "351" goes through their heads. But all I got is a N/A 302. My cousin has a 68 Coupe and he gets 10x the races I do.

hmmm... I love to race Cobra's 1994-1998. By luck, I molested one this summer. Of course luck meant it was stock, hence going no where.
Cobra's are designed for mods. That DOHC is screaming for better exaust, gears and heavy add-ons. ------------------ Lizard King - 00GT >> 13.698 @ 101.2MPH - BONE STOCK, yes BONE(even air filter) stock. "I can do anything, I'm the Lizard King." - The Doors |

First, I DO NOT SPRAY! I hate NOS! It's unreliable and unstable.
I think the people in this area either know that they are going to win, or they don't have enough to take one. I don't like racing for anything other than for fun and for comparsion. Like Lizard King, for example, I would love to run him just to see if the new GT's are that damn good. For that matter, to see if my car is that damn good. HEH HEH!! Ahh, smell all that horsepower!! ------------------ As the light goes out, try to stay in your own lane. |

I think only ricers are afraid of Cobras, just like they are afraid of LS1s cause both are just too much motor for them, but I think part of the fear is who comes up to who and revs. Everytime I see a Cobra (and sometimes a gt if the driver is a guy) I rush up next to them and revv...I guess that might give them the impression that I'm running juice or S/C or some other form of power adder. Hence I don't get many races.
If they knew I'm only running about 320 at the wheels and mid to low 13s they'd be more willing to run. But because I go up to them and WANT to race they think I do it because I know I have enough to beat anything. Frankly I like to win, but part of the fun of racing is the uncertainty of wether you are going to win or get pasted (I mean how exciting is it to race a civic or S2000? when you know you're going to be pumping your exhaust gasses through his intake ). As for Cobras, I've seen cobras that have just cruised after I've revved for like 20 seconds next to them. I've seen a GT that was probabbly running low 12s and an LX that looked like it was about to fall apart and kicked my arse with a passenger in his car. It's not what's on the outside...just what comes out when you push that little rectangle on the floor. Who's afraid of a Cobra?? I met more people that saw that snake on my fender as more of an invite than anything else. Everyone is always tempted to try. They see it as either a challenge or a big chance to show that any car can be beat.
