Bikes are not the unbeatable machines some of you make them out to be.

It takes a good rider to get most new 600s in the 11s or faster. They are very touchy!! Launch RPM and shift points have to be right on. Older 750s are pretty much.. well dogs... hell my old 95 ZX9R "only" ran a low 11 with me on it. From the factory its listed as a 10.80 bike(with Rickey Gadson riding). and the older 900RRs are slower than that I believe...

I dont see a reason to doubt his story. What his old ET was is phucing pointless cause the car is different now.

It would appear that some of the self proclaimed bike experts here know very little about them in the real world.

No early or mid 90's 600 has even close to 100hp. They all dyno in at about 65hp. The 750's crank out a few more, like mid 70's. Not 120. The 900RR currently made doesn't even crank out 120rwhp. The new 600's do not dyno at over 100rwhp. They dyno in the mid 90's. So please, if you want some respect, and you want to be able to prove your point, know what you're talking about before you start jabbering. I see somebody brought the Hayabusa into the argument. Come on, do you really think the very lightweight for it's size, 1300cc, 150hp, ultra modern king of the sportbikes has jack **** in common with the run of the mill early's 90's 750? Let's be real. That's like comparing the a new '01 Mustang Cobra to a 1977 Mustang Cobra II V-6.

I have raced my buddies '93 FZR 600, I had him by about 1/2 a car from 20-80. I've raced a CBR 600 F2, again I beat him, and that was with my old car from a 40 punch. It was a stock '88GT.

I don't doubt rbatson's claims for a second.

I just double checked with my friend, who owns and operates Tech One Motorsports, a full service bike shop, including machining and dyno tuning here in MN, he said some of the older 750's could put out over 100hp, but rarely. The 1998 ZX-7 that we were looking at in the shop dyno'd at 114hp.

Baseline for the R6's he and I have seen, about 96hp, he put in a jet kit for a real serious amature, it picked up to 98hp, but it the graph got way smoother (for some reason it had a couple dead spots). He said if any bike had the chance to hit over 100hp in the 600 class he'd bet on the R6.

Hmm...CBR 600F4 is making more than 100 to the wheels....so is the ZX-6, so is the GSX-R600....CBR929 is making almost 150 to the wheels....older bikes are dogs, but newer bikes are not. The GSX-R600 runs in the 10's and the other two 600cc bikes run in the low 11's(the new F4i might be faster). Now we all know driver skill is a factor, but even still, these bikes should still run high 11's or low 12's with an average to poor rider. Most street driven cars can't touch these bikes on street tires.

Keep in mind that ET is largely a function of the launch, and from a roll that all changes. Bikes hook hard off the line, even on street tires, so from a stop that would change the picture. How much horsepower/weight you have is much more important once the tires are hooking, and that's relative to trap speed. And I don't think a 750 is all that much faster than a 600, if at all. I don't see any reason to doubt rbatson either.

That's interesting Inferno

I guess the 600's that I've physically assisted in being dynoed must have been a figment of my imagination?

The F4 is the weakest of the 600's. At the rear wheel, you'd be lucky to see it dyno at 95.

Or maybe my friend and the previous owner who sponser drag bikes in the area and who have tested everything from Ducati 916's to Yamaha V-Max's to modified all aluminum NOS equipped 350ci V-8 Boss Hoss' to 504ci big block Boss Hoss bikes are mearly figments of my imagination?

Tell me something. Do you own your own bike shop? How about your own bike dyno? Or maybe you've physically dyno'd bikes before? Maybe you've seen the bike's being dyno'd?

No? Then shut the hell up because you don't have a leg to stand on.

Oh, I will agree with the new 600's being 10 second machines, and way outclassing all but a very few cars in the world for street performance.

Even the first year Hayabusa that Tech One owned and raced didn't dyno over 156rwhp, with some minor tweeking.

Hey Unit, I have seen F4's dyno over 100 stock. I also agree with it being the weakest of the the 600 bikes(but it still won the championship for 2000!!!!! ). I haven't seen a dyno of the new F4i, but I am planning on going to check them out. I don't know if you have heard of Chaparral Motorsports, but they are less than 10 minutes away from my house.

Unit, lose your attitude alittle..

Not all dynos are the same. A bike could turn 95 at the dyno in Minnesota and then go to florida and turn 101.. There are lots of variables. I have heard up to 15 hp diff between different bike dynos.

I have a '99 Ninja zx-6r that I have run at moroso and had a best of 10.37@135mph and I think that's pretty damn fast!! Although I had ONE mustang surprise me since I owned it... getting on I-95 here in palm beach county. I could see him creeping up on me a yellow convertible with blower whine! sounded nice! But I hit it when I was on the highway and he did too, and I really couldn't shake him.. he stayed pretty much right on my *** till 125 when he started falling back, then at around 150 I stopped because of upcoming traffic and he got right next to me and did the thumbs up! I was shocked!! Thinkin "i'm glad i didn't bring MY mustang today.. he would have whipped me big time!"

If you're dynoing on a Superflo you just might get 100+rwhp.

MN generally dyno's higher than other areas. Low altitude, colder, moderately humid.

I'd suspect the person doesn't know what they are talking about if they said their stock '87 GT dyno'd at 210hp at the wheels with no mods too.
