raced a '97 GT mustang
I was cruising down the interstate at a mere 85 mph when I noticed a vehicle gaining ground from behind me. I didn't know what it was at first but then realized it was a '97 mustang GT. I got back into the slow lane and let him pass then I nailed 3rd as he passed and the race was on!! I quickly caught up to him, by now the 85mph speedo is totally useless. I caught him and passed him and pulled a couple car lenghs on him. I let him catch up and did the same thing again just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. As I passed him this time he looked over and gave me the thumbs up and nodded. I was driving a bone stock, fully loaded 88GT mustang that I recently boughtlast month. I thought those 94-01 mustang were supposed to be fast?
I'll admit his car ran strong but I just thought he should have blown me away because of all the hype I hear about these cars. Maybe is was my 2:73 gears that helped me at those speeds...huh? It was fun though!!! ------------------ '82 GT 351W,BBK shorties, Comp Cam,edelbrock intake 625 cfm carter carb. c-4 tranny w/ pro stick shifter. 4 core radiator Mallory distributor. 3:27 ......................... |
94-97 are slower, they range in the the high to mid 14s.
99+ are the fastest mustangs GT(stock) ever designed by ford (read an article on media.ford.com when designing a ford site.) My car is in the high 13s... 82GT, don't be surprised you flamed the '97GT. I've got one, so i know just how fast they are. But like L/K said, just be careful if you pull up on a +99. Lizard - You love that saying "Bone stock", don't you? |
