I think the SS also come with a different exhaust system. Other than that, from the track results that I have seen the Z and SS are very close to each other performance wise.

SS owners just like to say that they have an "SS" whoop-D-Do-Freaking-Good...you paid how much more to get some dinky SS badges, a slightly different hood and different exhaust tips? who cares.

Ditto on Mach 1's statements.

I know the 99s were under rated, then their was no cobra in 2000, then i was expecting the 01' cobra to be an LS1 killer until i saw this article... Eitherway, the cars will run so even in a average everyday stop light race the LS1s .4 seconds faster or whatever wouldnt matter anyway...

The guy with the cobra that said he "blows away" Z28s only mentions a k&n filter....... Stock Vs. Stock it would be a CLOSE race, id put my money on the Lt1 depending on what year/options.. Mabey he hasent updated his sig in awhile... But with just a filter i doubt he "blows" them away... An Lt1 Z28 would be a hella match up for him, e would lose some, and win some, and the SS isnt that much faster then a Z at all really... I test drove an SS before i bought my Z and couldnt tell a difference at all...

I totaly agree with you here

Buy a 87' - 93' 5.0 stang for a few grand, modify it with a few grand and waste any new Cobra or Camaro and save thousands of dollars.

.
You could also buy a 89-92 Z28, put in a few grand and waste new SS LS1s as well. Thats whats so great about american muscle "Bang for the Buck" And they get CHEAP! .. (except for insurance)

L98 cars? You probably read that build up on the Formula 350 in GMHTP? They added a 1000.00 intake, TFS heads, big cam, gears, tires, built trans, etc.... nad ran a whopping mid 13 at like 102 mph. That is dog sh!t slow.
I am not inexperienced either. I built an 88 GTA. Damn near every part I could throw at it got me a high 13 around 100 mph.

Sorry about that...had to vent. I am still pi$$ed about all the time and money I sunk into that P.O.S.

BTW, The 94/95 Cobras had GT-40 heads, a Cobra intake, 65 mm throttle body and 24 lb injectors and a larger mass air meter.
The car ran prety poorly stock. low 14's around 98 mph. Ditch the SN-95 computer and get a better mass air meter and they could really pick up.

I used to have a 1991 L98, it was stock except for exhaust and ignition, i never took it to the track or had it at a dyno. But L98s are NOT slouches like early 3rdgens were. 245hp and 345torque are its stock ratings. I beat alot of newer GTs in it, ran neck and neck with a 94/95 Cobra, and held my own against Lt1s.... I beat them on occasions.
ERRRRRR (Shoves exgmguy), dont talk about the L98 I Loved that car Uh, B!tch!"
