For those who would like to see more of this bad boy... We just posted 246 photos of the 2005 Ford GT supercar today! You can see them in the Media Center. :)

Also, the pre-production Ford GT went up for public sale at Christie's auction house and fetched $557,500! [Read Article]

Damn, that's a beautiful car.

Thanks for putting the pics up.

I think its sweet.

But realistically, you'll see a UFO cruising the strip before one of these.

Hope they didn't raise the cost of a Mustang to finance this thing.

Maybe in Tennessee (no offense), but I bet I'll see some around here over the next couple of years.

And I don't think the Mustang price will go up, because the GT is going to cost at least $130,000.

I'm glad they are doing a high performance, high dollar car. Why not? They have the talent, the name (well, most of it.....40?), and the resources to pull it off. I say go for it. I'm glad Dodge built the Viper, although the GT looks a hell of a lot nicer than a Viper, inside and out.

I have actually seen one of the GT's cruising the strip all ready.Honest.I am a student at Ford Technical Institute here in Dearborn. The "Experimental Garage" as it is dubbed at school is right around the corner from me.One of the engineers had one out cruising down Republic Dr the other day right before school. He pulled out of the Roush building and jumped on it a little. That thing moves.Another guy from school said he saw the 2005 Mustang rolling down I-94 the other day.It had bra's all over it but you could tell what it was.I still hav'nt seen one of those out on the road yet.We are supposed to be getting a tour of that facility here in a couple of weeks. It's kinda nice being on the inside of the Ford facilities. You get to see alot of neet stuff.I am new to this site.Is there alot of people from MI here??

Id rather build one for 40k. Then I could drive it without having a panic attack. And if I had that kind of money, Id buy a original Cobra Roadster.

Id rather see Ford build a Daytona Cobra, than the GT40. Of course Carroll would not like that too well. Or even a early Mustang Fastback.

Didn't quite understand the Tennessee comment. Ford not selling them here?

vertcrazy - I am a Michigander also and I live in Farmington Hills... Mustang Works is based here, just 20-25 minutes from Ford World Headquarters. There are several members in the area. In fact, our Corner Carver's moderator, Darius Rudis, also lives here in Livonia and works at Ford Motor Credit. In addition, I am also a member of the FME Club (Ford Motorsports Enthusiasts), which is largely made up of FoMoCo employees.

Simple. I know that chances of me seeing one in the Detroit area is a lot greater than you seeing one in Tennessee. I think the Detroit Metro area has something like 5 million people and a lot of them are car enthusiasts.

How many Vipers do you see ?
How many Z-8 BMW's ?

Again, not making fun of you. Just Curious.:)

MTU 50 - I was driving through Bloomfield recently and had a Ferrari Testarossa pull up next to me. In the spring I was driving down the lodge and I had a Ferrari Spider pass me. I've seen a Lamborgini going down US23. And, was out last month on Woodward down by 9 mile and there was a Ferrari parked in front of one of the clubs... Two weeks ago I was driving down I-96 in the Lightning and had a Viper pass me. Some young kid with his hottie girlfriend smiling away. An obvious "out in his daddy's car" incident, but I still gave him the thumbs up... After which, he proceeded to lay into it to "impress" me. As you said, it's not that hard to spot stuff like that in the metro area.

Just a question, but how did you score the pictures in the proving grounds.

I've seen that bank from the Greenfield Village knowl, but you'd have to have one heck of a zoom lens to make anything out.

StangFlyer 08-22-2003 02:45 AM

They were provided by FoMoCo. Mustang Works is a well established media publication that has been around since 1995, and we are also registered with Ford's Media Department. Ford sends, or provides on request, various materials to legitimate media and news outlets on a regular basis.

That is an awesome car. I have loved the orginal gt-40s ever since I was a little kid. I can't wait to see one of these things in person. I gotta get me one.

If you want to see alot of expensive cars just take a trip down the 405 in LA toward Beverly Hills and all that crap and all you see is Hummers and porsches and ferraris even see a bunch of rolys royces. I used to love blasting down rodeo drive in my 69 mustang the looks i got where pretty funny.

MTU 50 08-22-2003 11:05 AM

Yeah, I've seen 2 Ferarri's this summer. One was a Magnum PI style and I'm not sure what the other one was, but it was newer. The other day I saw a guy in a Rolls. It was a two tone convertible with white on top and purple on the bottom.

I have only saw a couple of Vipers this summer, two new Cadillac XLR's, a couple of the new F-150's already. Today in fact, I saw the new Mercedes SL. I think it has something like 550hp and 550 lb-ft of Torque. Nice looking car.

I don't live in a high class neighborhood or anything, but driving around town you see a lot of nice cars. Plus there is a TON of old Muscle roaming around. I saw a real nice 69' Stang yesterday. All white, with a single blue stripe down the middle and wide tires in back. It was sweet. And thankfully, we don't have too much rice. I don't think I could take seeing that crap everyday.

When I was at the Ford Romeo proving ground in May, they had one of their prototype GT's out there testing. It was only a 400 hp version and not the production 500 hp. They were out on the flat test surface doing braking runs. That thing stopped pretty quick from my vantage point.

More people, more cars, thats a no brainer. Odds on seeing more of any given Hot Rod, I doubt it. A new GT probably. But it will show up here in time. Maybe a couple thousand Hot Rods a weekend roll through here all summer long. We see our share. Search Pigeon Forge.

How many Vipers? Two friends have them. In fact, rode one around Bristol Motor Speedway (N.A.S.C.A.R.). Don't know what a z-8 is, im sure their here too .

Im sorry I don't see your point.

StangFlyer 08-22-2003 03:59 PM

mustangII460 - I think he thought you were in "the back woods" down there in TN. He doesn't realize your neck of TN is heavily trafficed by tourists and gets a lot of traffic of all kinds throughtout the warm months... ;)

Actually, I'd love to get back down to Gatlinburg sometime to where my friends parents condo is. We had some good times down there back in the years when I lived in Lexington, KY... :)

mustangII460 08-22-2003 05:40 PM

Dan,,

If you come down let me know. I'll show ya the good places to eat and sight see.

If its not too cold we'll cruise the Cobra through Gatlinburg. YOU TOO MARTY. It's crazy the attention these cars get. lol.

About a dozen Cobras, one Daytona Cobra, Maybe one original are going to the Shades Of the Past ( Fall Rod Run). Should be a blast. Parade of Cobras. lol. I forget, sometime in September.
