I've taken mine to around 9,000 rpm before. I was doing something stupid and was racing a ricer. I was upshifting and downshifting before it was too easy to beat him. Well, I was about 5,000 in third, and ment to hit fourth, but went to second insted. Took me a bit to relize it cause i had the radio too loud. Damn 750 carb kept trying to make me go faster at around 9k. Luckly, everything was fine.

wow sucks for that guy... tryin to show off to his buddy too, how embarassing  .... i was wondering though, is it possible to do this in my 97? i havent had my car long yet, and i have "missed" a gear once, but it wouldnt even let me into the wrong gear, it just made the grinding sound and then i shifted normally. it definitely didnt feel like it would even go in, at least not nearly as smooth as when you are hitting a gear you can go into. i was under the impression it was on lockout or something due to the rpm/speed. so does this mean that if i were to really jam it hard it would go into it and overrev? how bad is this griding sound if it only happens once in a while? (im not perfect yet :D)
