87-93hood on 86????????

I can't find a full length 5 inch cowl hood for my 86 Mustang GT, can a hood from an 87-93 be modified to fit?

Technically, I suppose you could do it with a load of fiberglass or metal, a welder, and about 500 man hours, but in all realism, no.

Sorry, but they are completely different.

might be easier to change the whole front clip to 87-93 than try to make the hood fit. sorry :(

Could I get a regular cowl hood, strip off some of the gelcoat aroung the rear section, then make the section that extends to the hood and attach it with the glass/epoxy?

If you're gonna have to modify a hood, why don't you get a stock 86 hood and using fiberglass, make it a cowl hood?

I'd rather have a full fiberglass hood rather than mess with a steel one, plus it would probably be hard to make or find a cowl with a good even shape. At least if I get like a 5" cowl fiberglass from cervini's or wherever, all I'll have to do is make a short section to fit up to the back of the hood. I'd probably custom order one, but I've e-mailed a few places about it and they never got back to me. Does anyone know who offers custom orders on hoods?

alot of places sell hoods now for the 86. why modify one for an 87 when you can buy one for the 86?

I plan on buying onw for an 86, but I can't find a full length hood for my year, so I'll have to modify a regular length 5" cowl hood and add the rear section to go up to the windshield.
