Question '95 Mustang GT

I need help. I have a '95 mustang GT. It was an automatic but the guy I bought it from switched it over to a t-56 six speed. My problem is, it has no power at all. I mean a good toyota 4 cyl would blow the doors off of it. I have had it put on the analyzer, everything checked out good. I put a new computer in it still the same thing. It also has a 3.73 gear that I put in it, BBK equal length headers, off road H-pipe, flow masters all 2 1/2" front to back. 65mm throttle body, k&n air filter. Have tried stock throttle body. No difference. What really gets me is the car run Great. No skip, no hesitation, no jumping, jerking, its just about 100 horse power shy of a full load. I also have a '94 GT, and my two sons have '94 GT's. They all run like a stripped A-- Dog. Very fast cars for almost stock cars. Can someone please help me on this '95 GT? Thanks for your time, Team Fre-Jon

Question

Did you put the exhaust on or did the previous owner? How about the K&N? What have you put on the car?

Just a quick thought, with the T-56 I, personally, would think that you would have to have a 4.10 or 4.30 gear to get the same "push" that a 3.73 with the T-5 will give. I had it worked out at one time, but I forget how I did it now, but with the 3.73 and the
T-56 I think it works out as the same as a 3.08 or less in a T-5.

Again, I'm not exactly sure on this, but if I'm right, then that is where the "missing power" is.

Hope to have helped some.

Wink

I did the math and I think I had it right. With the T-56 a 3.73 gear equates to a 2.90(give or take a few). To get the right "feel" to the tires you would need atleast the 4.10 gear. That comes out to about 3.55 or so. the 4.30 comes out to 3.73 and 4.56 comes out to 4.10.

I certainly hope that's all it is that is making your pony so slow. I'll trade tranny's with ya if you want. I could use the T-56 in the GT. Although, fisrt gear would be useless. Oh well, hope this helps.

Later.

Cool

bigwhitecobra
got it right the first time. Check the gearing. Go taller and see if the car gets into the power band better.
