Default Raced at the track for the first time....

Well it was like 3 weeks ago now, should go again this friday.

Ran a best of 14.5 with a awfull 2.45 60'. Best mph was 98.1 Mostly my bad launching is to blame for the 60' obviously but it was also the first day the track opened this year. I was nervous as it was my first time so I pretty much was spinning through 1st and 2nd every run.

Car is a 91 notch 5spd. Only performance mods are h-pipe and pullies, and cold air intake which really adds no hp whatsoever. Have 3.73's waiting to be put in. Ran on street tires obviously.

Anyways, I was wondering if the car was capable of a 13.9? Maybe in the right conditions with a damn good launch? Its capable of at least a 14.1 or so with a 2.0 60'. But I was just wondering if you guys think a high high 13 could be squeezed out of it in with its current mods.

I was trying to hold it around 1500rpms and feather the clutch and gas, but just kept spinning. Next time I'll launch off idle since that seems to work better on the street anyways.

with a 2.0 60 foot I don't see a problem with you running high 13's

Thumbs up

Yeah the first time on the track is always so memorable.

You got 3:08s?
Sorry, but I don't see you running high 13s in that car (current mods like you said) on street tires...

...with good driving and drag radials, I can see low, low 14s...

...High 13s (13.8-13.9) with the 3.73s with great driving in good weather.

BTW, Cool car. Love those notches.

Get it to hook and you're in the 13's I'd say. DR's will take care of that. With 373's you shouldn't have any problem at all.

Heads up....I ran a 14.0-14.1 @99.? w/ a 2.0 60' when I had the mods you listed on your car. (First time out with that combo) Man....we are going way back .... But anyways I don't think you will have a problem of at least running that with a gear swap! Put some stickey tires on it and it should run in the 13's.
Back in the day I knew guys who were able to get there cars to run 13's with a show room stock coupe!!! But that was not a normal or average pass and when these notchbacks only had 3,000-8,000 miles on them.
I would just say keep practicing!
Later.

Default Don't be first

Often times, if I'm one of the first to go for a new run for the day at the track, well, I might as well be on ice. No traction at all and no good 60' and no good et or anything else. It would be a wasted run .

I always wait for some slick tired cars to do some burn outs and some runs before I even try for a run. Usually, the Friday evening has cooled off a little more anyway.

With cooler temps, and a little rubber down on the track mixed with some VHT from previous runs,, then I get decent times. Hey, works for me.
