Default Advice on trading her car in....

My girlfriend brought to my attention today that she is considering trading in her 2000 Mustang V6 Convertible. There are a couple reasons behind this. First off, she wants a 5.0, I told her I prefer her to get a 94-95 GT mostly because of the ABS, I want her to be safe! She really likes the Foxes though, so if she gets a Fox, I want it to be a 90-up cuz of the airbag. The second reason is we need cash. She and I figure she could trade her car in and get a 5.0 with some cash back.

I think this is great and would love another 5.0 in the family, but I am not sure how we should go about doing this. What do you guys think? And do you have any advice? Thanx alot

Matt

Your best bet probably would be to sell the 2000 outright, and then buy the other car. If you go to a dealer and trade down, you're gonna really get smacked.

I agree

Don't trade down at the dealer you'll get it up the ***. Just sell it yourself.

Default I concur!

Yep...... Sell it first..Even if you have to borrow a car or get a rental for a little bit....The dealer will bend you, and the Girlfriend, over and have their way with you..... LOL....

Sell, then buy....I have gone through these options about every 2 - 3 years...So after being well screwed, multiple times....Umm... owie..Sell first, no trade in...Unless you have "disclosure" issues with the existing car...

Good Luck either way.... ~Jenn~
