Default Another CD burning question

I download songs from Limewire and then burn them to a CD.
The problem is when I play them in my car CD player, it takes the player a long time to "find" the tracks before it starts playing the CD.
After about 3-4 minutes it will finally start the first track. It will play the rest of the songs perfect after that as long as I don't try to advance forward or backwards because then it gets "lost" again.
I use Windows Media player as my burning program.
Is it because my CD player isn't compatible with CD-R disks?
Has anyone else had this problem or know how to solve this little problem of mine?
My head unit is Alpine so it's not like it's some cheap player or anything like that.

What speed are you burning them at ? I have nero ,and for music burning ,the software likes 12x(1,800KB/s) or 16x(24,000KB/s) try and see if your burn speed is to high

I'm burning them at 24x speed. I didn't know it was possible to burn too fast. I'll slow it down a little bit and see what happens.

That's the same thing I was thinking too. I burn most everything at 12x. Takes a bit longer but I've never had any problems with the disks.

i burn CDs at 16x and theyre fine...should be fine at 24x too...maybe your cd player is a little older? even just 2 or 3 years old could make it read CD-Rs slowly...thats a big problem that came with them back when the noncompatibles were reading the slower burnt ones..

I agree with jj_jonathon, in my old truck my player would do the same thing your describing. I put a new system in my Expedition, and it'll play the same cd's that I had trouble with in my truck flawlessly.

I downloaded a new program last night called "Cheetah Audio Burner" because I couldn't find a way to regulate the burning speed with Media Player. When I get enough songs downloaded to fill another CD, I'll try that program with a slower speed and see if that's any better.
My Alpine head unit is 5 yrs. old though.

Alpine is the same brand I had trouble with, and about the same age to.

If your're looking for songs to download, try LIMEWIRE or Kazza.
