Anyone get ragged on at work for driving a Ford?

There are 2 guys at work who make it their 'daily job' to rag on my Mustang, or my old F-150.

I get so tired of hearing it! They want to race my stock GT with built out the a-- 454 Camaros. I try to ignore them but they just keep it up, day after day.

btw they never seem to drive their pos Camaros to work. They tell me they're still building them. Hum, hahaha, it's just nerve racking.

Just wondering. :D

Fox Body 03-08-2002 01:46 AM

I do. they think imports are the best  b/c they, for example, had bad experiences with old dodges. So they base there entire way of thinking from that experience. But they're pretty cool guys. Mostly jokes though. I don't get tired of or angry them cause I know they're just joking and furthermore, I am secure in what I drive.

WADS56 03-08-2002 02:10 AM

I get it all the time to. All the guys here drive 1st gen camaros, and chevelle's. They always say how fords break down and how they cost more to build then a chevy.
These are old timers though (late 40's to late 50's) and they always talk about big blocks and 700r4's and how they rule the road.
It's kind of funney because whin I see them on cruise nights they never wan't to line them up against my sbf. I even envite them to the track and they don't come. One of these day's I'll catch them at a stoplight. :D

Crazy Horse GT 03-08-2002 02:29 AM

it's just annoying there are some cool gm guy's at work but these 2 are total bone head's i try to ignore them but it's almost impossible, they dont like it when i ask, where is that b.a. camaro ya'll have been building for 3 year's, i offer to go pee on it to help them rust out before they ever fire the engine, haha:D

PKRWUD 03-08-2002 08:57 AM

No Marty, I don't. Of course that may be due to the fact that it's my Ford that I roll up to the jobsite in when arriving to fix their broken vehicle (as far as general repair goes, I repair more imports than anything else. They break down all the time).

Take care,
-Chris

mustangdani55 03-08-2002 09:54 AM

Yeah, I do know how you feel. I get ragged on , on a daily basis for drivin a pos chevy.... BTW, I am one of those in the category of your chevy buds at work. I always rag on Fords. Well I used to, till I got my racecar!!!!!!!;)

95mustanggt 03-08-2002 10:14 AM

There is only on Camero here and one 3000GT, but about 6 mustangs, so I'm in the majority :)

86GT 03-08-2002 11:32 AM

I get ragged on, but I guess I have it coming since I work for GM. Its okay tho, because they guys in my area know that the 5.0 mustangs are quick and after I tell them what's done to mine, they never bother me too much about it. All I usually hear is how Fords rust... since my car is in desparate need of a body job.

kiku2sleep 03-08-2002 11:40 AM

Not usually, but when people talk trash I will usually tell them if they want to race I will go get my lil 4-banger import and race them for money. ;)

tireburner163 03-08-2002 12:03 PM

Yea, I get it ALL the time. Just usually say "I think the mustang will beat the slowmaro, cause....ummmm...let me see...why was that?.....Oh yea!!!.....THEY DON'T MAKE THE CAMARO ANYMORE :D

A few use to rag on me. There are a few guys at work who race, dirt track. There all Chevy guys.

One of the other managers has a LS-1 Camaro (the guy who had the 2000 Z28, then the 98 Cobra, and now the 99LS-1.) and he use to talk mad trash.

I beat him in Z28. I beat his 98 Cobra several times, and now he just talks trash but wont line them up again. Hmmmmm..Now the guys at work dont talk trash about the Mustangs. Now they talk trash about the other manager.

I've challenged him infront of like everyone, only for him to chicken out.

joe4speed 03-08-2002 01:48 PM

I do too, I just tell them to put their money where their mouth is, and they never have the sack to step up, so I laugh at them!

kystang86 03-08-2002 01:54 PM

there was this one guy where i used to work.
GM to the bone, always ragging me about my little pony.
waited til one day all the guys were around and asked him
"do you know why gm puts rear window defrosters on there
camaros"? so your hands stay warm while pushing that piece
of s#*t. he never said another word to me ...i was tore up he didnt.

Mr 5 0 03-08-2002 01:55 PM

Talkin' trash

Anyone get ragged on at work for driving a Ford?

Nope. I just tell them my nickname is 'Mr. 5.0' and that usually does it.

Seriously, most of my co-workers drive imports, beaters or ancient, worn-out Monte Carlos and Camaros that even they hate. Everybody likes my '90 LX as it's old enough to be interesting but still a viable street-runner. No one wants to race but they all want to see me do burn-outs. Too bad.

Ty'97Cobra 03-08-2002 02:42 PM

One guy at the old job used to. He had a 72ish Chevelle and was always saying "found on road dead" Ford sucks, etc etc. He never did win a race with that Chevelle against the LX. Even then, he was always talking smack. Every day. Day in and dayout.

Then, one day, he said "the car I'm building will destroy your 5.0". I have heard this one before, so I said drive it in and then we will talk. About 3 months later he showed up with a 69 fastback with a rebuilt 351. He and a group of guys were talking smack again about how slow the 5.0 was. Time to talk.
The only thing I said to him was "If you can't beat em, join em". :D :D :D

The look on his face was priceless.

Turns out he traded the 'running fine' Chevy for the Mustang (even though the Mustang didn't run). He had to drive his parents car while he fixed up the Stang.

1969Mach1 03-08-2002 04:13 PM

My 2 good friends are always putting down Ford, but they love my stang, they just put down stuff after 1974 and Ford. There both GM fans, but one is a part ricer so I can put him down fast. I tell them both when your ready to race then just give me a call. =) One has a Cadillac, & Oldmobile and the other a Celeberity. I don't understand what they are talking about in being Anti-Ford. Either way I put them down everytime I see a Chevy dieing. lol =) And there in self denial that Ford owns Aston Martin. They just say they hate Ford Motor Company. lol But I know come summer they'll be lining at my door for a ride. lol

Let them be jealous of Ford,
§am.

69fastback 03-08-2002 07:10 PM

I dont really ever hear much about it. Even though i am one of the very few guys that has a ford. Alot of them think it is cool though cause they are into older cars and drag racing and stuff so they respect me for that.

89hatchbackGT 03-08-2002 07:36 PM

There was this one guy who used to brag about his GMC Jimmy all the time. He always refered to my car as a damn ford, so one day I asked him if he wanted to run his jimmy. OF course he made up some excuse like his timing was off or something. Then he brought something up about hooking them up. I was like what the hell is that, and he said "lets tie a chain between em and see who can pull. I was like $@## this. To this day he still wont run.

srv1 03-08-2002 07:58 PM

yeah i getted ragged on cause i own 2 Fords. my 90 LX and my 89 Escort. these are the only 2 Fords that i own, and my co workers think im a total Ford guy. they bust my chops about it all the time. i owned more Toyotas than any other vehicle, but now when a Ford comes in the tell the customers, to "speak to the Ford expert over there." i was like WTF?

Pokey 5.0 03-09-2002 04:36 PM

I get ragged on everyday! the guys i work with(even my boss)are all big block chevy and pontiac fans. all i ever hear about is ho "gay" my green car is, and how slow it is! i just shrug it off cuz the stuff the have cant be driven on the street an the 1 camaro that can be street wont stay runnin long enough to even be considered as a threat!

BTW did i mention i used to be a chevy guy? i used to rag on stangs all the time cuz they all looked the same.(doh!) but after going to the track for my very first time i discovered that a fox car was rather inexpensive and a helluvalot cheaper to build than an F-body. now i wouldnt give up my "green" car for anything!

Crazy Horse GT 03-09-2002 08:06 PM

pokey i used to be a chevy guy all the way,you couldnt get me to even look at a ford, but when i reached my mid 20's, i bought a 69 cougar,351w auto ,i couldnt tear it up,no matter how much he-- i gave it,now i laugh at chevy's they may be fast but they just dont last,i tell the 2 dummie's at work not to bolt their hood down ,because they will be pulling it off in 2 or 3 week's for another re-build,hahaha,what's funny is i never have seen these b.a. camaro's yet, when i ask well? where is that awesome car ,the reply, uh im still working on it, oh yeah, haha:rolleyes:  :D--- oh yes srv1 my boss alway's say's to me ,why your the ford expert,i tell him i dont know much about ford's because i only have to open my hood to change oil, or general maint, but i can re-build a chevy with my eye's closed hehe.l8ter;) :D

Five0 03-10-2002 10:06 AM

I don't get a lot of that around here because I work with all ford guys and around here mustang’s rule the street.
Every once in a while I do have a customer come in and give me a hard time but I always just shrug it off and pat them on the shoulder and tell them not to worry, not everyone can be perfect.
That usually shuts them up.

I hear people talk a lot of smack but when they hear my car start up they usually don't want to race anymore. :D

I really need to get that thing quieted down some more.

mustangman65_79 03-10-2002 10:55 AM

I get ragged on all the time. But I don't mind. It's just another mark on the bullet for the 30.06.

J/K

But anyhow, I don't mind becuse My $500 '66 mustang is more realiable then most Chevy's. It's only let me down once.

crewzin 03-10-2002 12:12 PM

Ragged on but not ragged out

Hey guys I know the feeling about getting ragged on! Everyone at work gives me **** about being a Ford nut. They all drive chevys except one who went from having a Vette to buying a 67 fastback to make into a Shelby clone after getting his vette stomped. Now he just kinda sits and listens to us go back and forth on how crappy each others ride is. But ....... come to think of it they dont have their chevys running...... Ha ha. I took em for a ride in the car the other day and they did shut up for a while and now consider me out of the ranks or somthing. But it runs in my family, my dad goes thru the same at the plant he works at and he tells me just to suck it up and it makes for a better kill when your the underdog. Dont let em get ya down guys!!!! Some talk it and we walk it !..... later..

84LX89GT 03-10-2002 04:39 PM

I'm lucky because i work at a Ford dealership and most people there usually only bash cars like Focuses and Contours. There are alot of POS fords out there. Just like there's alot of POS Chevy's and Chryslers, and any kind of import. Cars break that's all there is to it. Usually people with the strongest allegiance to a vehicle that don't have proof that a vehicle sucks is usually too dumb to argue with any ways.
I always found it funny when a chevy owner (one of my old acquaintances) would bring up pintos exploding (which i heard....probably not true.....but only 26 pintos actually ended up blowing up) and i would then say......yeah, what's next at ford....putting saddle bag gas tanks in their trucks for 30 some odd years just like Chevy did killing countless people. That usually shuts up that argument.
I don't pay attention to when someone says, "that car sucks" i usually just nod and agree. Someone can't argue when you pretend to agree with them.

Jeb_Bush_2000 03-10-2002 07:26 PM

I used to get ragged on, and I didn't know why...

...then, one day, the kid with the "fastest car" wanted to race me across the parking lot. He had an Olds Achieva with some stupid rice mods and a pair of racing seats. I humiliated him, of course, but then word got around that I had a V8, and then suddenly everybody thought it was cool. Turns out everybody thought it was a 2.3L just beacuse it was a coupe.
