It is the air fliter cover/box. It is described as a PRO M induction tube  Anyone know where I can get one?

Looks like a "greenhouse" for the air filter... ;)

RPM427 08-26-2002 09:40 AM

Well it is open to the iner fenderwell and sees no light when the hood is closed, but ok......

Hammer 08-26-2002 09:45 AM

hehe... I said it "looks" like one....

You might be able to grow some mold in there though... ;)

Looks like a heat shield to me, aka: fan wash eliminator.

Take care,
~Chris

Ditto....

looks homemade too.

yea, I know what it is and how it works, thats why I need one. My electric fan and alternator is blowing air into the filter.

I think I will just make one out of sheet styrene (plastic), doesn't look that hard. That shouldn't melt under the hood, right?

Did yo try contacting Pro-Flo? They make the Pro-M mass air meters. Maybe this is one of their products. Here is a link to their dealer lists. I hope it helps.

My brother needs one of those, he has the same problem as you, the fan etc is blowing air into it, some guy at the race track was talking to him about it and told him to make something to surround the filter so it wouldnt blow into it etc.. he never done it, and his car still idles all funny like.. and dies if you dont give it gas.. MUAHAHAHA.. anyway.. thats all i got to say bout that

:D Reminds me of a high school science project :D

Dude, all you need to do is get a piece of plastic and heat it up enough to bend it 45 degrees and mount that sucker over the filter. That is exactly what came with my Vortech kit. I think BBK has a metal shield you can buy that mounts to the maf(I think). Sorry though, that doesn't look familiar to me at all.

RPM427 08-30-2002 08:27 PM

I did that yesterday. I got a piece of sheet styrene from my hobby shop and went to work on it with a heat gun. Looks pretty good. My car idles better now.

RBatson 08-31-2002 04:56 PM

I meant bend it 90 degrees(where did 45 come from?). I know what you mean about the hot air turbulence screwing up the idle. The vortech shield I had didn't fit after the engine change. I could take an envelope and shield it and see the difference it made so I put my filter in the wheel well to fix it.
