Question Background check- age? occupation?

I was just curiously thinking to myself. Some of have over 2000 posts(Sky, Unit 5302) and were all dumping tons of money into automobiles like it grew on trees. How old are you guys and what are your occupations? I am a poor college student working at Toys "R" Us. I am 23 years old and am trying to get a bachelors degree in Health Administration and eventually apply to Med school. I love Fords and would love a nine second mustang, but that will have to wait till later in life. How about you guys???

Well I am 23 years old (24 B-day 6/30 ) I do estimating and CAD drawings for a Rotary Diecutter/Fabricator and 3M Preferred Converter. I just bought my first house last August, with my fiance, and plan on getting married next year.

Here's the trick I learned to save money for the parts, while I was going to college and living at home I was still working here on Second SHift, college during the day. Now that was tiring and hard at times but I was able to work 40-60hours and still pull a 3.25 GPA, and I was able to put lots of cash away. Now I was use to going out and buying what ever I wanted then I moved out, and reality settled in, rent etc.. so I had to put money away every week and not touch it. I do the same thing with now that I have a mortgage, put money away every week and that way even though it may take a while I will be able to do the mods I want. Don't worry man finish school that is the most important and find a good job, you will be able to do the mods you want. Make plan and stick to it, you don't have to try to do the motor, suspension all at once.

36, Self employed Tool & Die / Mold Designer.

Previous mustang gave way to family oriented vehicle or two or three back in '92. Now that my finances are more stable I'm getting back into it.

I'm 39, Manager of Operations at a company in the entertainment field. I've always wanted a Mustang GT ever since I sold my 69 Camaro SS350 22 years ago. Well, my kid is grown up, finances are in order, so 4 years ago I finally bought a used '86 GT convertible. It started out innocently enough, Flowmasters for the rumble, then got beat by a couple ricers so the headers and 2-1/2" H-pipe went in. Then the oil pressure dropped - mains were shot, so I picked up a new long block with a Cobra intake. Mass air conversion was next. Still not fast enough, so a cam and roller rockers went in. Now all that just got moved into a 93 GT. And on and on, $100 here, $200 there... I do all my own work except for welding (for now) so that saves me some.

23 years old (12-02-77). Have a BS in Chemistry (graduated 5-12-01 w/ a 3.1 GPA--I screwed around until the last year ). Much of my time during college was spent on my car and 90% of my earned money was spent on my car. Get this, 2 months ago, I broke down and bought a pair of khakis, some t shirts and the FFW shirt. B4 this, I haven't bought clothes in at LEAST 10 years--this excludes underwear and socks (no exaggeration).

Still now, at least 70% of my money go to my car. It took me 4 years to get as far as I am with my '79 351W powered stang (it's my third V6 b4 I found the right body). And now when I'm walking toward my car in a parking lot or something, I think how long I struggled trying to get to where my car is now and it's hard to believe (I am almost obsessed w/ Mustangs), but I am only half way done with my car--looking for high 11s in the 1/4 by the end of the year. Do most the work myself and the stuff I can't do, a friend of mine helps me with.

~10% of my money goes towards my guitar and equipment. I actually like guitar more, but I put more money into my car as of now. Been playing for about 10 years.

Anyway, sorry for being so long winded...

Well, I'm 18 and I work at Foley's Department Store. I work to pay the bills now. When I lived at home, ALL of my income went into my cars. Just ask Topless, every car show I had added a new part of some sort! Anyways, now that I'm a college student I have to be poor but at least I finished my car before I moved out!

I'm 28. Work as a Mechanical Design Engineer for a company that manufactures electrical distribution equipment. Got into engineering to design/build cars but I got this job while I was still in school and its too good to walk away from. Anyway, I work on my car as a hobby and I guess that's what keeps it fun & exciting. Got married last year and just bought a new house. But will still find time & money for my mustang.

Thumbs up

I'm 30 and I work as a Video Producer for Cox Communications. I graduated with a BA in broadcasting from KSU and was lucky to get a job in my field. I get to shoot and edit :30 commercials and long-form videos and I have a blast. My wife and I both own a 66 and a 96 Stang so it's hard to figure out where to spend the money...restoring the old one or making the new one faster We'll get there eventually on both cars but right now we're saving for a house. I consider myself lucky as the 66 was my wife Anja's car when we got married... I always knew she was cool...

Well, my car is nowhere close to where I want it, but I just started last year. I used to be a pretty avid import guy. I actually came about a pretty strange way. The school I went to growing up was too small and I had problems with all the teachers. Graduating class one year ahead of me was 12. So I dropped out, took the GED test, took the SAT(1480), and then enrolled at U of Oregon. I got my Associates in Music Theory and Composition before running out of money. So I joined the army and served 3 awesome years and now I'm getting out of the army at the end of this year. I am married now, but plan on going back to school to finish my B. of Arts in Music and then get a computer degree of some kind. I can also sympathize with Mercury and am very into Theoretical Physics. But my car itself is not anywhere close to where I want it. It will probably take me quite awhile as I am now married and expecting twins at the end of the year.

I turned 22 on march 2nd of this year.

I'm 24 and got my BS in Geophysics from Texas A&M last december. It was too late to change majors, so I finished that one and now I'm gettng my MS in mechanical engineering at A&M. I'm currently working for Ford in the Cleveland Engine plant #2 for the summer. The duratecs and the jag/lincoln engines are assembled there. I'm working on the jag line, trying to help increase production and reduce engine rejects. Everyday I drive by the now closed Engine Plant #1 where our beloved 5.0 was assembled. The job is pretty cool but ohio sucks...I would never live here. I'm now using my paychecks to pay off my skyhigh discover card bill...which went to the cobra of course :-).

Hi, my name's John, I'm 28, I live in NY, and I'm a Stang addict ! Kidding aside, I'm an investigator for the top insurance company in the nation (will withold the name as I'm sure some/all of you aren't happy w/ your rates - which I have nothing to do with). I'm 3/4's of the way to where I want to be w/ my car. I figure that another $6k-$7k (not including labor) will get me to my ultimate goal of a 10 second street Stang! Guesstimate = 2-3 years.
