Talking Best moment in your stang?

I was thinking about all the times I have been in my car just happy to be driving it.

One time in particular sticks out though.

It was 0300 in the morning, middle of december and I was in bed not sleeping but not really awake either. My phone rang and I shot out of bed to answer it...my stang was waiting to be picked up from the shipping truck! I hopped into my 89 escort (on it's last legs) and went to the parking lot a few blocks away.
I paid the shippers and they lowered it off the truck...It was in perfect condition and I couldn't find a single scratch on it. I got into it and fired her up...My cluch leg was shaking a little, part due to my excitement, part because I had never felt such a stiff clutch! I gave it the same amount of gas as I would with the escort ,let out the clutch quick, and I smoked the tires inadvertantly for a good 3 seconds or so!

In 40 degree weather, I dropped the top and cruised for over an hour. I was freezing, tired, but loving every minute of it.

After years of beaters and basically having car envy from having underpowered vehicles, I finally got my stang!

I won't forget that night anytime soon...had to be the best time I have had with it.

Anyone else had a memorable moment like that?
(yeah, I am bored at work at the moment)

good for you ed, my first time driving my stang when i had the title in my name was almost the same. i was coming up to a red light and it was on an incline! this is my first stick car and i was kinda nervous about stalling it, so when the light turned green i rev'd it to around 3-4K and let the clutch out a bit quick and squeeled the tires and it was in an underpass so it echoed rather nicely!

ed1371 that is a good question. Now that i think of it i've had quite a few with the '84 and one memorable one with the GT.
With the '84: This last saturday me and my friend were downtown in the town i used to live in (woodinville, washington not that anyone would know where that is) and we were cruising around the theater looking for a good movie we hadn't seen. We saw an old friend and talked for a couple of hours to him. Anyways, on my way out he motioned for me to light 'em up, i drove accross the parking lot to his friends with rice rockets and revved at them. A few of them said "oh hell yeah" and i smoked my tires for a good 10 seconds of powerbraking and then kept them spinning around the corner they were parked at and all the way to an intersection. The best burnout i've ever done and it bested all the EXTREMELY WEAK burnouts they had done with their stupid hondas and acuras.
The other one with my '84 was when i first test drove it, it was kinda wet and i wanted to see what it could do....it could spin the tires up to 50mph, more power than i was used to. It sold me on the car, which although i like the car, i payed way more than i should have for it.
With my GT i brought it over to a friends house and took 3 of my friends in it (it only has 2 seats) and proceeded to make his street a track by peeling out through 2nd gear and getting up to 100mph by the time we reached his house. I've never seen me and my friends with such big smiles on our faces before....
...god i love mustangs!

When my ex -wife left, I looked at the keys and had a nice ride, and just to thing I was going to sell it to help pay HER bills!I bought my 87LX new and will keep it til someone takes the keys from my cold stiff fingers, dont know how long the ride was, but it was nice!

Best moment in my 'Stang?

Many, of course, but since I bought it brand new, the day I picked it up and drove it off the lot for the very first time has to stand out in my mind, and it does.

March 23, 1990.

It wasn't my first new car, but it was - and remains - my best new car.
I remember the 'new car smell', the sweet sound of the purring 5.0 and the burble of the duel exhaust when I cranked it up. The feel of the clutch (smooth and surprisingly light) and the shifter (a joke, as my prior car - a Camaro - had a Hurst. The ease with which I burned rubber (I ordered the optional 3.08 rear, which helped) and the solid feel of the tight new body and V-rated rubber on the curves. I knew this was a great car for $13,600, and I owned it!

An exciting ride home and an even better time when I brought it down to my local garage (my hangout) for the inspection, admiration and well-wishes of my car-nut buddies.
They loved it, and these guys drove cars like a Buick GN, a late-model 'Vette and other assorted muscle cars, so they weren't easily impressed.

I probably smiled for three days following my taking delivery of my '90 LX hatchback.
I've had some great races and some fun rides and trips in the eleven years since then, and I look forward to many more with my 'old friend'.

In it or on it?? No comment either way, my wife would kill me!! Oh yeah, it was always fun after a friendly race with a camaro/whatever when the guy would ask.. "Is that thing stock?"!!!
