Re: The Best Mustang Ever
Remember there are new generations coming up all the time.....for example I've ordered a 05 GT and will become a new memeber of the stang family. Listening to the stang veterans is a great education, but don't be so quick to bash other years, we're all family......

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
My favorite is of course '69/70. The foxes would definitely have to be the most versatile in my opinion, but that doesn't make them the best. I think I'm going to have to go with the '05 for now. I'll really have to drive one or at least ride in one before I would be able to decide for sure.

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
I love all stangs, but I like my 5.0 more mostly because of all the aftermarket accessories that are EVERYWHERE. If I had 25 grand, I'd totally buy a new GT. But for $2500, I think I'll keep the ole LX for a little while longer.

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
Anybody read the HRM artical testing the '05 GT? It "wheel hopped it's way to a 13.90/101" with a professional driver. After fixing the suspension, exhaust, taking off a few hundred lbs.,and burning a new chip, it went 12.77/111.42.
I was a little non-plussed to discover that the original Ford chip won't allow engine rpm to exceed the equivalent wheel or drive shaft rpm for a given gear, by more than some arbitrary amount. That means no high rpm clutch dump launches and no good power shifts with your foot on the floor. I just hate it when power is killed electronicly to the engine without any good reason. That phenomenon just sucks in factory form, IMHO. Fortunately, it can all be fixed with after market goodies. Why is it that Ford always seems intent on screwing up a good thing? Rev

If the 87-93's are the most popular why are they the cheapest?

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
Again, unquestionably the '05 Mustang is the Best Must Ever! And, I also think it is the best Mustang ever when compared to other cars of the same year. Clearly, you MUST give Kudos to the 64-65 Mustangs. They sold 1,000,000 Mustangs in the first 18 months of production. When sales finally slowed, awesome cars like the 67 and 68 GT350 and 500's followed, but only a few lucky folks could own those. Then, after many years the '87's seemed to be the next great Mustang to hit the streets and for the next 6 years the popularity of the car grew and grew. For the time, the Mustang seemed to share the roads only with the Chevy's F bodies.
Today, the Mustang faces much competition, and as a result, the '05 will prove to be the best performer, best equipped, best handling Mustang to ever hit the streets. Only a few of the high-priced after-market stangs can touch it...and many of them still can't. And, oh by the way, the '05 Mustang is the same exact price as an '89 GT I believe when you compare the MSRP with inflation. Yet, the '05 offers soo much more for the same dollar. This is why it would get my vote. But, in the end, only time can be the judge.

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
I agree about the '87-93 mustangs but as far as looks go, it's hard to argue about the looks of the '82GT's
I own an '82GT and an '88GT so I guess I own two of the good ones.

I have to say that i really like the way the classics look. The foxs are nice cars, but i still kinda like the retro style of the 05's

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
My fav years are 69-70 fastbacks. True the fox 5.0 has a huge aftermarket and a great deal of potential for performance. But i`d still be looking hard at the 05 if I were in the market. Already the aftermarket is running with it. Personally I think they are gonna sell a pile of em.

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
Anyone heard any rumors as to when the next Cobra might come out? I heard that the SVO has killed the Lightning for the time being. What is Ford thinking?

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
I am not a fan of the 05. The '03 GT 5 spd that I now own is my 4th mustang, and it is the best one that I have had. So I will vote for the '03..lol.
I will probaly but another 89-93 though to play with.

Re: The Best Mustang Ever
I own a 99 GT and my father owns an 05 GT. I like them both. If you knew anything about mustangs you'd know that the 99 GT is the greatest one ever produced, but i suppose i am biased lmfao
