Blackouts legal in Canada?

Hi,
Ok, while I was at a 1979-93 Mustang junkstore here in Ontario (it's called: Mustang's Alley), I bought a pair of headlight blackouts for a mere $15CDN ($10US). http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

Also, I managed to get a scoop that's supposedly from one of those RAM-AIR kits (like March's) for $10CDN ($6.90US). http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

I got the scoop put in with my home-made ram-air setup, and I also put the blackouts on and they look pretty good. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

I was just wondering whether these blackouts are legal in Ontario, Canada and whether it's OK to be driving at night with them.

Thanks!
Bye!

Well, from what I was told by the local police, they are legal but not at night. They must be removed after dusk around here. It might be just a local thing, so you might be okay at night, but personally I wouldn't take the chance.

When I was pulled over last year the cops told me that they were not allowed during the day either. Then they started bust'n my balls about my window tint. The covers really hinder your night vision especially on unlit roads.

Hey Ian,

I'm from Ottawa too. Do you go at Bank & Alta Vista on Fridays and Saturdays (Summer)?

Hi,
Well, the other day, I was coming back from work (at 7pm) and it was already dark. As I was waiting at a red light, a cop slowly drove by (he was taking a right turn). He musta noticed cuz he had to be looking to his left (where I was) for oncoming traffic.

I asked my buddies and they basically said they might not be legal, but cops here don't give a sh*t.

Welp, I guess the blackouts staying on until I get caught. If they take my blackouts away, I won't care; they only cost me $15CDN ($10US). http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

Bye!

I got smacked with a ticket for blackouts last summer. I had been driving for a while and was almost home, I forgot about them and was pulled over. Fined around $100. Here they are okay during the day.
