I know exactly what you mean, I honestly never cared for the sn95 body...I know there are a lot of people on this forum that adore it and love their sn95, but I just dont see it in anything other than the saleen or 98 cobra...just isnt my thing, not to say they suck or anything, just not my thing...but the 99+ appeals to me...I love my car, esp with that scoop...I would love to make it functional, but i dont have the $$...so oh well...I still think they lok sharp, and so does a good majority of america which is why there are 2003 models :D

for what it is worth, i prefer the looks of the 94-98's more than the 99-ups

are all 94-98's called "sn95"??? i've heard that before and always kinda assumed it had something to with the model year *shrugs*

jj_jonathon 10-07-2002 10:53 PM

I love foxbodies with a passion, I grew up around one, and drove one my senior year....but they arent reliable highway drivers...and the amount I go home from school it wasnt worth it and I needed soemthing that would ensure me getting there...plus I consider my car safer than the foxbody....also stops much faster IMO...

i honestly dont know why ford called it that..might be worth finding out just for fun, same with the term foxbody....but yes, all 94-98s are the sn95 body....

The foxbody name comes from the 'fox' platform the cars are built on. I always thought the sn95 designation was for '95's. Maybe Druids can shed some light on this one for us.

I think my car is pretty. The 99+ cars look sharp, but I think some koni's with a 1 inch drop make the sn cars sit real nice.

FWIW, I would love to buy a bulitt and put the 03 snake hood on it. The two reverse vents look like the '68 hood.

I heard it called "The Edge" style not too long after it came out....haven't heard that since.....not even sure where I heard that in the first place.....

I like the 99+ stangs. + the newer GT's with the hood scoop that sticks up? (I'm not even sure how to frase that), they just look real mean. I do like the SN95's, mostly the Cobra's though. I am not a huge fan of the LX Fox Bodies, but I love the GT's so I guess it all depends but if you ask me... I will take any stang. EVEN THE MUSTANG II!

That was the Ford design school of thought. See the Cougar and Focus for other examples. It marked the change from the soft lines of the SN cars.

I wonder if there is a name for that designation or if it will become the 99-04 body like the 65-66?

4 drums

If anyone wants to experience some "hair raising" stops, try 4 drums on a '65 -66. My Granada front disks helped a lot. Not up to modern standards though.

You band-wagon jumper.... so Ford F**ked up abit on the Mustang, so what does that mean that we go agaist the bad ones. lol :D :D :D I know what you mean though, I honestly don't hate the Mustang II's, like it's not like anything special came out after 73 that was decent.

i do to. i used to hate the new gt's but i've grown to like them. my biggest hang up is that the car jus gets bigger an bigger every year (its like the size of an nissan altima an firkin huge if you look at its 1964 size)

yea FOMOCO language is kinda screwy, SN95-is internal ford motor company designation for body styles.

it all depends(imo) what you want out of your car.(drag, auto x'ing, showcar).. each different body style serves a better purpose than the other, an you kinda have to pick which one you want.

the 80's lx 5.0 fox mustangs are the quintesential drag car(small, light,) with the 89-93 Gt's bein right next jus because of the added weight of the body kits on the GT's.

the sn95 94-98 stangs are great showcars an auto crossers, with the 5.0 94-95 bein the best for aut x'ing for its pushrod 5.0 torque. the later model 96+ 4.6 with the exception of the dohc cobra 4v, are really kinda hard to work on, (headers are a pain to install) the tech is relatively new, (compared to the 5.0' aftermarket support) an in some cases there are warantys still in place on 4.6 gt's an cobras. they lack the low end punch of the 5.0, but on the plus side the 96-98' are more defined, rounded an look nicer than the 94-95 and make up for it up top. so ya can pick what ya wanna do with the car, an go from there.

i beleive the 99-03 stang is called the "Edge" design.

This reminded me of something that occured to me the other day. (Kinda OT, but not that much). This came to me after riding in my buddies '02 GT.
To use a military analogy, based on everything I have read. The difference between the Fox and the "Edge" cars if you will, is kinda like the difference between an F-4 Phantom and an F-16. (I know the weight issue is reversed, but the temperment seems similar to me) The Phantom/FOX is basic, "low tech", "kick in the pants/is it gonna go hinky on me?" type of vehicle, whereas the new Stang is a very high tech, refined type of car. You can go just as fast, but it doesent seem so brutal. Slight kick, *wow I'm already doing 80?" Just my .02

Crazy Horse GT 10-10-2002 02:39 AM

all i know is i went from a 69 coupe, to a 2k the 69 was raw hp, but you never knew where you were gonna end up, sideway's etc, my 2k, is a kick it, it's gone in a straight line ride, on the highway, before i know it im doing 110, 130, yikes gotta get out of it, before a cop see's me. just my .02. :D :D :D

95mustanggt 10-10-2002 08:14 PM

I believe the 99+ mustangs are still built on the same chasis, and therefore still technically SN95's. There will not be a change until 2004/2005 when they change to the DEW chasis.
