bring back post count
 

I think the post count should be llisted by everyones name again. It may cause post whoring, but I also think it is fun and can be helpful. I really didn't think there was a problem with it before. I don't understand why it was taken away. I personally think the site is less entertaining and fun to be on without the post count.

How can it be helpful?? Because maybe people think that because some guy has 20,000+ posts he's smarter than somebody who's prolly only got 20 or so..?? Posts don't equal knowledge. And that comment is not leaned or geared toward ANYONE on this site..so i don't wanna hear a bunch of crap.

By helpful I didn't mean having more posts makes you smarter or know more things. I t also helps me remember who some people are since many people have similar names and post counts can help distinguish them.

Then if it's used for that purpose it's fine. I just hate that people won't listen to your advice because your a newbie or something. I've seen it on alot of other websites.

I found it helpful for the same reasons 7up did, but it no longer matters. It's Dan's site, and if he doesn't want them shown, then that's the way it is. I've been too busy working on our message board to really care anyway.

Well, you DID join this message forum, which means that ESPECIALLY as a moderator, you HAVE to listen to people's crap. I understand that you may not agree with what many people say on this site (I don't) but don't tell them NOT to say it...its their right...unless you feel like giving yours up? :rolleyes:

I also think people are upset because even though MOST of us weren't post whoring, WE have to "do the time" as well. Other message boards find it humorous that we had to "control" this problem...they say it seemed that we barely had one ("you don't KNOW what a post count problem is!!!), and I have to agree!

I can think of ONE post wh0re I yell about that cluttered up the board with stupid posts that didn't even have humor value and we all complained bitterly about it...you know who you are ;) ...but I didn't have ANY problem with any other member...therefore I for one was shocked when the post count left. :rolleyes: Personally I dont believe in punishing the majority for the minority, but cest la vie right?

Just look at the vote count to see how most members feel. 86% vs. 14% should tell us something as to how the majority feels.

I voted yes but i dont think its gonna matter i doubt its coming back. I dont wanna mention how we really DONT HAVE A POST HO PROBLEM again....oops i just did :D anyways i could care less either way. off-topic took thiers and registration date away a long time ago too from too many people saying stfu noob everytime someone new made a post about them being new. Obviously we dont have that problem but w/e

what good did it do? who cares how many times someone posts. we know who the biggest posters are, and we all know some that would post even when they had nothing to say. now, i can't accuse them of post whoring without further evidence, but let's be real here folks.

btw...marty is a cool name....i have a cousin named marty...he rebuilds old minis :D ....right now he drives his 4th driveable one...he cut the top on it and made it a vert...rather cool...those cars are incredible to ride in :)...thought id share the similarity :)

If it is THAT big of a deal, then you post count lovers can start a post every day that states your stupid post count. Hi, I'm Bob, and I have posted 12,895 posts. All in the last year. That means I know alot about Mustangs. Please, beg me for advice.

I think it's pretty funny that so many people think that those of us that wanted it, wanted it so OUR count would show up! LOL. In case you haven't noticed, several members have added a count to their location, as a kind of joke. It's not about seeing your own count, it's about seeing other peoples. I don't know but maybe one member on this board that is so vain that it's their own count they were the most concerned with having seen by everyone else, and he's mellowed considerably. Hell, maybe we should get rid of user names, too, and just make it completely anonymous. LOL. Either way, the subject is so stale, I'm even sick of it. Does give me an idea, though. :)

I must have missed that poll, I didn't realize someone had already done this. I haven't been around much lately.

It seems to me that most of the people bitchin about the post count haven't read or chose to read what the people who want the post count have posted. They all seem to think people want the post count so they can brag or pretend to be knowledgable about Mustangs. To my knowledge, No one has ever said that. If you think someone knows about Mustangs because they have a lot of posts it is your fault, not the post count.

I thought the post count was fun and a little helpful sometimes in remembering people like Pkrwud said. No one has been crying or even been upset about it, at least on this thread. People who have wanted it have said it'd be fun but it's no skin off my back if its gone.

The people who have made this a hostile subject have been the ones who don't want the post count. Some seem to think calling people babies and post whores is a better way to make their point than actually coming up with a well thought reason.

It seems to me this board has become a lot more serious and less fun recentley. People need to relax and be happy.

I personally don't really care about the post count, I like it being there over not being there but it really doesn't let me loose sleep. But I say bring it back, it's causing more problems then it's solving. Or maybe have the option in the user options to have it showing or not. That way who wants it can have it and who doesn't can hide it. That way everyone is happy and leaves the subject alone.

And I may be a post ***** but I'm proud of it. :D I don't *****, I just have to much spare time but I'm not even on this board as much anymore really.
