Default Burning DVD's??

Is there software out now that allows you to copy DVD movies? I see a lot of stuff to do this using your cd-r drive, but my parent's new computer has a dvd burner on it that I want to use. But, I don't know that movies can simply be copied using it. Anyone know how, or if, this can be done?

I'd just try it and see what happens. I don't know first hand, but until you give it a shot, neither do you. Why buy software if you don't need it. I am curious to know what happens, though, too.

Take care,
-Chris

lmfao...i feel like i wandered into a blackmarket thread..i used to be into that tho...got bored of finding all the free-to-me software and movies i could...

but i know that copying dvds was impossible for a little while...theres a code involved with em...some kid in sweden was one of the first to crack it and post it on the web...he was arrested rather quickly...so i havent kept up with dvd copying/burning...but id imagine that by now (quite a few months later) that this stuff would be out in mass amounts, but i dont knwo abotu programs out there yet ready to copy copywrited dvds...i think thats still something on the "down-low"...

Naw, it's easy as cheese. Just rip the .vob files, convert to .avi/MPEG, and burn to CD-R with your traditional CD-R drive....well, that's basically it, in a nutshell, hehehe.

F#$& THE DMCA AND THE RIAA!!!!!!!!!

RIGHT ON BROTHER! that is what i used to do.

no its not a black market at all. i am not buying or selling anything, i would simply pass along information. thats it. i go to Usenet and get some goodies. put it this way, in the past 3 years i havent bought 1 piece of single software, not Operating system, games or utilities. for experience users, you know what i am talking about. others should look into a program called Xnews or other similiar clients.

Sounds like there may be a few options out there. Where can you buy blank DVD's though to burn to? I have heard they are kind of expensive so it doens't really pay to burn movies yet.
