insurance blues
I am putting a 302 into my 1980 mustang to replace the all but dead 200 six. My insurance agent told me they couldnt write a policy on it because its "modified" I think thats rediculous as the engine going in is one offered in the car in the first place. So, anyone know of a good place that will sell insurance for "modified" vehicles.
I dont want to just lie and say its still a 6 you never know when an adjuster will look under the hood and go oh, you lied, your insurance is void after you've been in an accident. Thanks for any ideas -Tim |

You are undertaking one of the most difficult engine swaps possible in the Fox bodies.
The K member on the 3.3L inline 6 is different than all the V cars, and the 2.3L. You'll need to change the K member, the tranny (C3 I'm guessing), the rear end (6.75"?), and the engine. I've seen the end result, but the person who did it, (my dad) said he wouldn't have if he'd had known how much work it was going to be. I'd get a different car. Capri 306 had a 3.3L car and he's got a 302 now, but I can't remember if he actually did the swap with the 3.3L car and not a different one. |
