Default Computer Question

I know some of you are computer nerds so I hope yall can answer this question for me....

I have a EPoX 8k7a mobo and a 1.54 AMD XP chip running on Windows XP Pro. I upgraded form a 1.1GHz AMD with 266fsb to the 1.54 XP with 266fsb. When I start up my PC, it only shows 1100MHz at 200fsb in the BIOS and in my OS. The jumpers on my board are set to "auto detect". I flashed my BIOS with the newest one that EPoX had in December. The date is either 10/13/01 or 10/17/01. I can't remember, but I know it's one of those two dates. I seen a place in my BIOS where I can "adjust" the clock speed. The range is from 100-250. I changed it to 154 and it displayed the speed at 1111MHz then after one reboot, it changed back to 1100MHz. That is the deal? Thanks for yalls help!

Are you positive there is a 1.54ghz chip in there? If you really want try taking it back to where you bought it and check or even check the chip it should say on it. But I personally would take it back because it should be checked, because if you purchased a 1.54Ghz chip they should of givin you one and made sure it worked at that speed.

What multipliers are available on your board?

Sounds like you have an Athlon 1800, which is 1.54 GHZ.

So take 1530MHZ / 266FSB = 5.75 clock multiplier.

Get your MB manual or look on the board and see if you have a multiplier for that.

just take it off auto detect, because obviously that isnt working right, and set the jumpers yourself for 5.75x multiplier.
