Computer Question
 

I just got a new computer about a month ago. It should be pretty good. It's a Sony, Pentium 4, 1.6GHz, 512 MB DDR ram, 80 gig memory, DVD, cd burner, etc, etc. I'm running windows XP.

Recently, I've been having a problem with my Window's media player. When I double click an .avi, .mpeg, .asf file to open it it will take a good 10-15 sec to open the media player. When I first bought the computer the movie files would open up instantly. Just lately this annoying problem has begun. Any suggestions as to what could be the problem and how to fix it? Thanks.

when's the last time you did any maintance on your puter? :D

like running scandisk first then defragging your system,depending upon how much you use your puter,you should at least do this once a week...

Im afraid to defrag the computer because when I did that on my last one, it messed up the boot up process, and from then on took over five minutes to boot up. Also, when I defraged my mom's computer it wouldn't display .jpeg images after. I'll try the scandisk thing. Thanks.
