A couple of posts down RBatson got a 04 Mach for 25k. I would think somewhere close to that would work. If not get a Mach. I like them better than the Cobra anyway.

Cobra has more potential for cheap mods...pulleys, intake, exhaust can give you well over 80rwhp

I test drove a Mach 1 at our local dealer a few months ago. He was asking 28k but I live in a small town prices are usually higher on everything. I thought the car was sweet that shaker hood just screams drive me fast. Although a little to much aluminum trim for my taste.

<---- Got my new baby for $200 over dealer invoice.... in early July....

Seemed like a good deal at the time... and it was considering the local dealership wanted $4K over sticker for the same car...

I wanted a Cobra to start with but the more I looked at the Mach the better it looked, more car per money. It really isn't that far off. Mid-low 13s with the Mach, mid 12s with the Cobra. If you want a Cobra then by all means, that is what you should get... I got a dealer in Jacksonville Fl down to $31,800 for a new white 2003 model. I just decided the Mach was a better deal, to me. The silver trim is the 'interior upgrade pkg', mine doesn't have that(about $345). The premium pkg you are referring to is the Mach pkg, there isn't much you can add to a Mach besides the iup. You get the 460 Mach stereo and the 1000 Mach stereo is not an option on the Mach. It had a solid rear axle and is lowered 1/2". If you have any other questions, just let me know... I have to go xmas shopping now.. /being pulled by the ear..

here's a quick pic

Without the upgrade(this pic)... the pedals are black instead of metal, the locks are black instead of metal, metal trim around the gear shift and you get a 4 way head rest with the upgrade.

Oh Yeah!! There is supposed to be a used 2003 model on the showroom floor in Wilson NC, I heard the price is $19k. Good Luck!!

It's all about your personal finances.

I have a friend who has a Mach1 right now and regrets not going for the Cobra. He got stung by the drag fever this summer, and realized after reading up a lot that the Mach1's higher compression alluminum heads is not capable of sustaining reliably a power adder like a S/C.

He also reads around about 'bras running with 600, 650, 700 and 750HP on stock engines with different boost via different S/C.

Mach1 is a hell of ride. This one guy at Sanair this summer kept on clocking 13.1-13.2 at 103MPH factory stock (even the rubber). It was a good day... I was clocking high 13.8s with my stock GT.

FYI: The shaker hood looks more cool than is effective... but don't tell anyone, they don't need to know.
