Cougar in 2004 will be based on Stang Chassis.
I dont know about you all, but I was so happy to hear/read the news from Mercury concering the Next Gen Cougar.
Yes, I dont know why, but I'm so glad to see the Cougar return to a Mustang based car. Mercury says its gonna be released 6 months after the new Mustang, and based on the substanially modified DEW Lite Chassis. Of course its gonna be rear wheel drive, with a V8, and totally diffrent "Skin" as the Mustang. I hope they pull off a cool retro 67-70 Cougar look for it. That would be BAD-A$$. Thats basically all the details they gave on it. What do you all think? Wonder if it will be an Upscale Pony Car, like they used to be in the late 60's early 70's. That opens the door for some more Hi-Po Fords. Xr-7's, and Eliminators anyone?

I haven't heard anything about it. It would kick serious *** having the Cougar return based on the Mustang. Heh. A Cougar Eliminator would be killer.

I that would be awsome if they brought back the Couger on the mustang frame. Where did you here about this at. Depending on how they look I might want a Couger instead of a Mustang

That's cool....the Cougar couldn't really compete in the import segment in my opinion anyways. I hope you guys get used to IRS though .

I got the info from the Newest Motor Trend Magazine. Sounds like a real good possibilty that it will be a Mustang based car. It will use the same Substantially modified DEW "Lite" Platform as the Mustang. Which was Widened (Probably to fit the Mod motor).
We should all e-mail Ford Motor Co and give our thoughts on the subject. What do you all say? Tireburner163 I thought the same thing, if its priced right, looks killer, and has a Hot Mod Motor 4.6, a Mod 5.0 or the 5.4, I'd trade the Red Baron in on one. Wouldnt mind owning a Mustang based Cougar at all. Last edited by Mercury; 12-02-2001 at 01:59 AM.. |
