Post Racy or Ricey?

http://www.vitessesportscar.com/

I can't quite figure out what the heck is going on there. Full body-kits for Honda Civics? Ricers are getting so good at what they do!

"enormous amount of performance accessories available"?? I like that one! LOL.

I guess it is just another Kit car. But I'm sure that whoever buys one will slant the wheels 10 degree by cutting the stock springs, put 19" rims with 19.1" tires, a big fart can and an Intake (reality: Air filter). They won't put too many stickers on as the body kit is real just one GIANT sticker.

That seems pretty crazy to me. The average Joe Blow isn't going to be able to prep the kit and paint it himself. He may not even be able to install it. So here is teh price breakdown:

Honda Civic - $3000 (they can't be much more than that)
Body kit - $4500
Prep work - $1000
Installation - $2000

Grand total - $10500!!!!

It just doesn't seem worth it to me. I'd take the 10k and put it down on a Cobra or Saleen but that's just me

Ya know, I gotta admit, the car looks a lot better with those kits. They dont look ricey to me. (ricey for me is stickers, huge tip, really tastless skirting)

Prices are way up there though!

Cool

The yellow one looked like a cross between a MR-2 spyder and a Honda S2000. Ugly.

Surely one could find better things to do with their money.

It almost looks slightly European. But notice there are no unsightly wings, no two peice air dams, plenty of wheel well space and fit and finish looks good on the display models.

I dislike most of the rice jobs I see but if I had to recommend a mod to someone stuck on rice this would be a choice. It looks better than 95% of the crap out there. Just don't crash them!!!

You'd have to be one rich ricer to afford those kits. Those don't even look like hondas. Those kits weren't as bad as most of those "shogun" kits or "rice bowl" kits or whatever they offer. Most aftermarket "kits" include a F-1 wing with a front spoiler the size of the car itself, i'd almost like the kits if it weren't for the fact that it's for hondas and that it's a kit. The daily joe blow ricer would probably buy the kit, stick it on with 3M tape and half-@ss paint it with primer and call it a "Kustom Kar, YO!" or something like that.

Thumbs up

I repect what they have done. I mean it makes it look like a new car. I would hate to have to drive the same dull thing everyday and not be able to buy a new or a newer car with sporty looks. I think it's racy not rice.
I'm just talking about the body kit only.
Hell I wish I could find a body kit like that for my older car... you get tired of going out to the same dull, slow car everyday.

Ok, here's my tap. Rice basically is a car with all show and no go. If you took a Lamborgini Diablo and dropped in a 4-banger, then it's rice. (This holds true to 4-banger mustangs, they are rice IMO).

So this body-kit is rice. It simply masks the fact that you still own a crappy Honda Civic or CRX with a crappy 4-banger, and it costs about as much as a really nice used 87-93 Cobra or GT (for both car and kit). Why not buy the REAL performance car instead of this ricey shell.

However, if the user has the power under the hood to back up his racy looks, then that's just great. If it looks like a sports car then it should perform like one, that's my opinion. It just seems like a lot of money to be spending on the cosmetic factor.

Oh, and #1 Pony, a slow CRX with one of these kits is still a slow CRX (but admittedly good looking) .
