CRX with wheelie bars
I was driving by the local rice shop PhatnLow or as I like to call it Phatnslow. :D Anyway there was a completley riced out CRX with huge drag tires on the front and a wheelie bar on the back sitting in front of the shop. I am curious if front wheel drive cars need a wheelie bar? How much power would you need to get a front wheel drive CRX off the ground?
This stupid store is taking over the town, half the teenagers around here have PhatnLow stickers on their car. |
I agree that is hilarious to see. I went to the local track about a month ago and saw some little honda that had a wheelie bar out back and slicks on the front. This just falls into the catagory of "They just have no damn clue"
|
I used to have a picture of a CRX with a blown big block in it. It needed the wheelie bars it had.
Take care, -Chris |
That would be a good picture to see. Unfortunately the one I saw was still front wheel drive.
|
Hey Chris,
If you find that picture be carefull who you show it to. Them clueless rice burners might get the idea they can throw a sticker of a big block on their hood and say it's for real. That would mean they would get an extra 450hp and out run us all the time. |
Maybe the guy uses the bars to keep his rear wheels OFF the ground during a race. One would think a little graphite on those suckers could take the rolling resistance down to almost nothing. Now give them THAT idea. he he he:D

The wheelie bars actually do work on a high powered front driver. They aren't to stop the car from doing bumper stands they're to keep the weight from shifting back and unloading the front tires. The wheelie bars are probably set to just about an inch off the ground so when the weight transfers it won't completely unload onto the back of the car. It's still like racing with a 3 legged dog though.

Damn rice boys will never learn, hell I'm more afraid at looking at a stock Honda or such, the guys who actually do make them somewhat fast don't usually flame it by putting stickers and huge *** exhaust. A buddy I work with has a Prelude, he's put new pistons, pulleys and acouple other little things, it was dyno'd at 193 at the flywheel.. Not very fast obviously but it has no big exhaust, no stickers, just looks stock. I respect him for that. He does have a momo wheel and shifter I beleive but he just likes the feel of it too. Like belle said, rice boys just do it for show. They try to impress the ladies with there cars. I will never marry no ricer girl. lol :D

first reaction ...."he he he he"....... second reaction ....curiosity ,so i asked the guy about it ....."they keep the weight on the front wheels" ..........the guy won my respect when he ran the thing and it went low 7s in the eighth mile ........turns out he had a procharger feeding the little four cly .......for the most part i aint got no respect for the "poser" ricers .....but there are some ricers out there that run pretty good ....and if its fast i like it ,no matter what it is |
Pretty soon they'll have entire fake cars...

As stated earlier...wheely bars on a FWD car can be functional. Ever watch import drag racing on speed vision?

I guess the wheelie bars are functional. I'm glad they didn't just put it on for show, that would be crossing the line. |

Well done, Hammer!!! Take care, -Chris |
the bars on some of the import drag cars are press. with air so when they launch they push down on the ground to put more weight on the front tires and then at the 1/8 or so they raise up so not to cause more drag...
