Lightbulb Let's Tell Mm&ff What We Think Of Excessive Motorsports!

Everything I gather, every little bit of info, will be printed out and sent to the editor of MM&FF.

1)Would you ever do any kind of business with Excessive Motorsports? Why?

2) Do you support MM&FF's advertising of Excessive Motorsports (Blue Springs, MO) in their magazine? Why or why not?

3) If this support continues, will you cancel or consider cancelling your subscription? Why or why not?

4) Do you believe MM&FF is more concerned about their profits from advertisement than their susbscribers? Why or why not?

ummm, good post.

1) I live about 40 minutes from Blue Springs....therefore the only reason I would do business with them is because they are close to me. I first ordered my GT-40 intake from them about 4 years ago. I got the run around on why it wasn't in for probably a month. I was told it was on backorder, which it may have been. But, I cancelled my order, called up Summit, and had a GT-40 intake at my front door in about 4 days (and at a cheaper price). Now, in four years things may have cahnged, but I don't know. I know other people in the KC (btw, blue Springs is a suburb of KC) area that don't think too highly of them either.
I will say they seem to have a very knowledgeable tech staff though.

2) I dont' really care about the advertising in MM&FF. That is where the magazine generates most of its revenue, so if someone wants to pay the money to advertise with them, I guess that is fine by me.

3)I wouldn't cancel my subscription over advertisements of Excessive Motorsports.

4)MM&FF may very well be more concerned with profits than its readers. But, they are a business so that is somewhat understandable. They need to strike a balance between profits and caring for their readers. Take their tests and reviews for what they may or may not be worth. When advertisers are shelling out a ton of money to MM&FF, chances are the reviews in the magazine will not be critical even if they should be.

Exclamation Excessive Motorsports complaint

1. No.

They have aquired a bad reputation as demonstrated by many angry ex-customers posting on Mustang Works Online.

2. Yes.

Excessive Motorsports is a legitimate business and the magazine cannot be held directly responsible for the policies or poor performance of it's advertisers.

My guess is that Excessive could show you lots of letters and e-mail from happy, satisified customers over the years.

Think of it this way; if they screwed every single customer, they wouldn't be in business. The market isn't that large and there are lots of competitors out there, as we know.

3. No.

See answer #2.

4. Yes.

They are a business, not a charity or a non-profit organization. No ads, no magazine; subscriptions and newstand sales only pay the overhead, if that.

Mustang Works Online and similar websites give you the true scoop on products from the people who own and use them. Never trust a magazine test, just use them as a guide.

Make sure you read the post in Windsor Power about these jerk-offs. They've given a lot of folks a hard time.

WOW!!! Good questions.

1. Yes, every business has disappointed customers. On the other hand, just like Mr. 50 said, they must have happy customers because they are still in business. You can't please everyone.

2. Yes, supporting a magazine is not an easy job!!! They cannot survive solely on subscriptions alone. Advertising pays for a good portion of the magazine.

3. NO, I buy the magazine for information, not advertisements. Don't shoot the messenger!! You are a grown up, if you don't want to use them, don't. It is a free country.

4. Bottom line, it IS a business, and as much as we want to believe that the world revolves around us readers, it doesn't. It's all about the Benjamin’s baby!!

Maybe the best way to approach this would be every time a newbie joins the board and asks what their first mod should be...we could all say "Gears, Exhaust, and NEVER order from EXCESSIVE MOTORSPORTS"...

1) No. They are a horrible business that has a negative rating with the better business bureau.

2) No. They are supporting a known bad business when they have a responsibility to their readers to deliever quality information. As far as I'm concerned, they need to take a moral stand.

3) I already don't have a subscription, but I do buy the magazine off the shelf occationally when I'm looking for parts. I would be likely to hold a grudge against a publication for allowing known negative businesses to use their pages.

4) Yes. They are a business, and they have to weigh on thing against the other. They are not a stand alone business as they are owned by Petersen Publications so I doubt they have total authority over their pages anyway.

They have not been owned by Peterson Publications for a couple of years now!!! It is Primedia footing the bill and they are the only publication house supporting car enthusiast magazines!!! You might want to check your info!!!

And also, Petterson Publications was a private publication house, The magazines had a lot more say in what happened back then.

Does Primedia own FHM (the other one!) I have no idea what it stands for, but its the people that run Car & Driver/Road & Track. Just wondering, cuz I thought those were seperate, and Autoweek/Cycleworld group.
Just looking to cause trouble, and maybe learn something new.

Car & Driver and Road and Track are not enthusiest magazines, they are broad reach magazines. Totally different, they are not owned by Primeda. In fact I don't know who publishes them.

Sorry I'm in a mood!!

No worries. I see the difference now. I read those so my friends think I'm smart. Read the Mustang ones so I actually am. Wouldn't have noticed the mood if you hadn't poitned it out.

May I buy you a drink?
