debating about exhaust
 

ok heres the deal. i have a custom 3inch stainless steel exhaust from my dads stang. its eveything but the h pipe. i have to get custom pipe put there.

what should i run? H or X pipe??????

is there a distinct sound that a X makes??? is one quiter than the other? and if there is does anyone have a sound clip???

what do you guys think i should do

im not running cats and i have longtubes.

Well your gonna lose torque with 3" pipe. It's too big IMO, for your combo

The H-pipe makes more down low and the X pipe makes more up in the RPMS. I've heard to use H-pipes on chambered mufflers, and X pipes on straight through mufflers.

Don't trust sound clips, your computer isn't gonna reproduce the sounds right.

yea i know that 3 inch is a little big for my combo, but heres the deal, i have 2.5 inch now and dont like it at all, i can sell it to a buddy of mine for what i bought it for. and my dad has this kick *** 3 inch custom system done by watson engeneering. sooo ill just take his

i dont think im gonna notice the torque loss because im chainging from 3.55 gears in my 7.5 rear to 4.10 in a new 8.8 rear.

well if h pipes make more torque then i should go for that to compensate for the loss with the 3inch system......

also im planning on new heads so that should compliment the high flow exhaust

I really don't think the cat back has much to do with torque. It's not the restriction in the system, and making it bigger would have about the same effect as putting dumps on a car.

The H pipe/X pipe and headers will affect torque more.

The X pipe, from my understanding offers a shallower, more European tone, and it can sound pretty funky sometimes. The H pipe is deeper, and it's probably more versitile.

Ok, are you gettin a 3" H-pipe or a 2 1/2" H-pipe???

3 inch h pipe. i need to take it to watson engeneering to have it done.
its nothing i can go and buy, its all custom. the pipe wouldnt bend over the axle so i have to go under it. it still looks sweet. the pipes come up on an angle in the center of the back of the car. the pipes are about 10 inches apart from eachother
