Do you guys do this too?

There actually are 3 cars in my city with variations of "Slow Down" on their license plates. One says "Slo dwn" one "SL Down," and one "Slow up." Whenever I spot one of em up ahead of me in the slow lane, going slow, I gun it and just FLY by them. Am I a prick? :p

Hey Stoplight, don't generalize too much about us old ones. If I had a personalized plate , it would say "letsgomofo". LOL.

Honestly, Rev, when I was writing that comment, I thought about you. I didnt mean cooler old people, I shouldnt stereotype, and I apologize. My Grandpa is 85, but he's an awesome dude. :p
Take it easy, man

Rev 08-03-2002 06:20 PM

85?

Well I've not seen 85 yet, LOL. I didn't really think you were hammering on me personally.

Well, I also didn't mean to say you were anywhere near 85 either, just that there really isnt an age limit on "cool." You know?

Some of those old people should drive slow, or not drive at all. Slow reactions and impaired vision, hearing etc... are a bad mix IMO. I know I'm glad my 94 year old grandmother finally quit driving. Once you get past 70 or so they should make you take a test every year or two. But of course I'll change my tune on that when I get to that age.:D

Devil of a time

We had a devil of a time getting the keys away from my mom. Even after several accidents, and getting lost numerous times, the state (Texas) said if the accidents weren't her fault (stopping on freeway ramps and getting rear ended) and if she could pass the eye test, that there was nothing they could do (even at the family's request). Finally, the insurance company canceled coverage. That gave us the authority to take the keys away. Still wasn't easy.

the problem with saying that we need to take more of these people off the road is that you are basically taking away a large part of their self-esteem...once you take away their ability to drive and get around they need to rely on others to live and move on....so it tends to cause a lot of depression...plus in Florida there are lot of registered voters over 60....this testing has also been called discriminatory towards the elderly...so comments fly at this topic from every angle...i think its a good safety idea, but like LX5liter said, ill probably want the privelage to still drive when im older...
