Yes, It has been over a year now hasn't it.. Well we will see! I'm having some doubts myself too, but anyway you look at it I did pick up some hp. So come march 24th it will all show up.

Sky, I have been gone for a while so I missed this. I had to dig it up. Congrats on those numbers. That is nutty. I would keep those TFS heads unported unless you added a power adder. I think the lower compression, relatively small cam, etc.. don't jive well when you port heads that already flow like crazy.

I have been tuning fuel pressure for the last few days with the "seat of the pants" dyno and going from 40 psi to about 35 at WOT feels much better. Also my car runs fine now when cold. It used to stall if I did not give it gas.

I guess we'll see some track results now!

Once again, congrats!

so, how'd the track go?
guess you can tell why I'm not a member at the corral ;-)

Way to go SKY!! You've wanted 12's for the longest time and through being persistent, you got them!

Ya,I saw your post over at the Corral also, talk about a bunch of crap in the way they acted towards you..

I'm running more than 16* with my AFR's.. you can run more initial timing with Alum. heads.. I was running 14*, tweaked the timing to who knows where.. 19* or so... and picked up 10RWHP and 10RWTQ, with no detonation and air temp at 87*.. I would think your fuel pressure is way to low also... oh yeah, I run 89 octane gas in mine.. in the winter at least and I have a little more compression due to 58cc heads ;-)

Congrats Skyler. I just got finished reading the posts on the Corral, all 4 pages worth. Some of those guys are real d!ckheads. They don't believe jack unless it's smack in their face. I think they were jealous that you were probably putting out more hp than they were with less mods.

Nice, Skyman.

A 12.5 with those hp ratings, I'm a bit surprised. And that is a lot of torque for that motor. You got yourself a nice car.

If you could answer 2 questions for me though:

1) What tires were you running (I need some of those http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif)
2) What gears you got out back? 3.73s, 4.10s? (or have you still not checked yet?)

*sigh* (...someday, I'll get to post some 11 second track times...Hopefully b4 this year is over http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif)

Again awesome times, proved some of those guys wrong http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif that had to feel good.

Sky,

We haven't met, but I have a couple of questions hopefully you can help me with..

First my 94 302 had 307RWHP, and 335 ft lbs which was good for a 12.77@105 on 29 inch tall tires.
This cements your info which is why I am asking YOU this question...

I am getting about 18mpg, but I can't even think about 87 octane..

My timing is at 17, bottom end is stock and I'm running the TFS Track Heat heads with the Stage 1 cam...

When you say low compression, I am wondering are you just referring to stock pistons with 61cc heads??

Thanks in advance, and great job with your ride...

D4M

Skyman 03-28-2001 08:11 PM

Yeah Im saying I have stock pistons and box stock heads. I run 16degrees initial timing and Ive never had a ping out of the motor.

I dont know why...

Red514LX 03-28-2001 11:17 PM

12.55 @ 107mph = some good driving! Is that time corrected for altitude?

With your dyno #s, I am very surprised you didn't hit 110mph. That said, for running box stock TFS heads, Edel. intake, and an E303, 107mph in the 1/4 means you are making GOOD power out of that relatively simple combo. When it's all said and done, I'm sure you'll pick up another 1-2mph.

As for the dyno results....well, it's my opinion the numbers are too high. I truly believe that if your car made that kind of power on a mustang dyno, it would run 110mph easy.

Nevertheless, that's not your fault. It's the shop's fault and you shouldn't feel bad about it. You car runs real good for the combo you have.

Drag4money... What other parts do you have on your combo. Give me a run down of everything you have. EVERYTHING. Also those heads you have are much larger than mine, and I think over kill for that cam that you have. Give me all the specs, and maybe we can figure it out.

Thanks for the replies, let me clarify a few things however...

My runs were on a dyno jet as far as the power goes not a mustang dyno.

The ET info I gave was not adjusted, it is right off the time slip..

Here's the info,,,

94 GT 5.0 stock bottom end 74k

3.73's

TFS Track Heat heads 61cc volume 170cc intake runners 66cc exhaust

TFS Stage one cam 499/510 275/279 duration

1.6 rollers

TFS track heat upper and lower intake

mac 1 5/8 shrties
mac H
mac 2 1/2 3 chamber cat back

FMS 24lb injectors

BBK 255lph intank

paxton FPR

FMS RPM extender

70 MM BBK T/body

Pro-m 75 MM mass air

underdrives

6AL/coil, stock dist.

Megabyte Jr's

Tires were 29/11.50 which I thought were to tall but i borrowed em....The short was 1.72 which I think a shorter tire woulda helped.

Just for comparison sake.(Give you another setup to compare it to)
91 full weight GT
TFS heads/ track heat intake
30#inj/75mm MM
65mm TB
Anderson N-2 cam--529/544...282/288 dur
underdrive pulleys
1 5/8 hooker shorties
off road h-pipe/dynomax cat back
T-5 Z/3.73 gear
MSD ignition
No powershifting

1.929 short time
12.98@107.45 mph on street tires.

Just my previous setup...could have ran better if I could shift!!
Hope this adds some insight.

300 at the wheels on a Dynojet is usually 270ish on a Mustang Dyno.

That is great sky! Looks like a pretty nice set up you have there. You think you will switch out the cam and intake later on? Light Em Up!!! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

thast what Im debating right now.. Im going to post a topic on it in windsor power.
