Efi

I got my first car and its a 1969 Mustang. 302 2-V. (2 barrel).
I have minor mods. Cam(mild), Hooker headers(comp.), the carb is a 500cfm, and I have flowmaster 3 1/2 exhaust 2 chamber. 8mm plug wires, the engine only has 24000 miles on it. And some change. :D. I took off my air because it didn't work anyways. And an a performer rpm intake manifold. Anyways I really want to get it changed to EFI. And I don't know any companys. That do this. And I would also add a vortech supercharger to the EFI. Now would all my current stuff work, who do I buy the EFI conversion from?

P.S. I need to rebuild my trans. I have a C-4 I want to change it to a C-6. What do I have to do? Just change the bellhousing and shorten the driveshaft. And who makes a carbon drive shaft? And could I use a F-150 9 inch rear end in my mustang? Its cheaper. And is there away to convert my 3spd. auto to a 4 spd auto? Where do I get all of this stuff? Think I wrote enough...lol. Thanks.

EFI is great, but why bother? The only thing it wuld really do is maybe improve the gas mileage a little, but if your turning it into a race car that shouldnt really be much of a consideration. If you already have a good carb, i would buy a charger for a carb'd car.
You would need a new hood, but thats no biggie.

Of course thats just my opinion, I could be wrong.:D

Ok you could pick the parts off of a EFI Mustang or try Winsor-Fox they might have something. But it really not worth it to me, you won't gain any power. You can add a supercharger to a carb.

As for converting from a C-4 to a C-6. You will have to find a C-6 with a small block bolt pattern(very rare). But why? The C-4 should be plenty strong(I've seen them on many 10 second cars) Also you can swap in a 4 speed AOD into your, Winsor-Fox makes a swap kit.

As for the F-150 rear-end, if the width is the same it should fit.

PS. I hope you typed this wrong, but you don't really have 3 1/2" exhaust do you.

3 1/2" exhaust?:eek: I hope you just mean 2 1/2". If you have 3 1/2" I'd spend your money on a new exhaust system instead of an EFI kit. 3 1/2" would KILL your power.

There is no way to "convert" from C4 to C6, or from 3 spd auto to 4 spd auto. I would definitely keep your C4. If it needs a rebuild, get one, put a shift kit in it and a decent stall converter. C6s are bulkier/heavier and not necessary when you have a good C4.

I do agree with these guys though, I wouldn't bother switching to EFI. If you're doing it for a "custom" thing then I suppose it's your choice, of course, but if you're looking for performance out of it, it's not worth it. Just buy a higher cfm carb for $200 and be done, instead of a whole lot more for an EFI kit.

Stay with the carb and you can stil get a Super Chrage if you want on it But a NO2 might be a ezer way to go.
