A fair price for my 95gt?
I'm selling my mustang! It's a 95GT/T-5 with 56,000 miles. I think I'm going to ask for $6,500 or BO. I've put in over $5000. The engine does burn some oil and may need a new bottom end.
Do you guys think the price is fair? ------------------ 1995 GT Black- Edelbrock 6037's,Intake,Edelbrock cam,70mm TB,75mm pro-m,Taylor wires, pulleys,Equal length headers,K&N filter Flowmaster,3.73's, Eibach pro rate springs lower control arms Centerforce clutch New motor in the works! |
56k miles and you're burning oil?!?! How'd that happen?!
|
Reasons my car burns oil at only 56K:
1. I beat the living crap out of it on a daily basis. 2. It had ALL the mods done w/4,000 miles.(52,000 modded miles) 3. My friends drive it w/o me in the car.(god only knows what they do) I think that should answer your question. Any comment on the price? ------------------ 1995 GT Black- Edelbrock 6037's,Intake,Edelbrock cam,70mm TB,75mm pro-m,Taylor wires, pulleys,Equal length headers,K&N filter Flowmaster,3.73's, Eibach pro rate springs lower control arms Centerforce clutch New motor in the works! |
I ran mine hard until 75-80k miles then added a s/c and ran that(hard) until it was just over 100k miles and it still didn't burn oil(on engine stand now). If you're burning oil at 56k then all I can wonder is... what kinda shape is the car itself in? Its hard to put a price on something you've never seen.

I would buy it from you for $6,500. I realy want a GT, and the price you are asking is the best I have seen, plus you got all those mods.

You had much better luck than I. Guess I got a weak ringed motor or really messed something up when I changed the heads.(First car I worked on myself) I really have no idea. All I know is that it burns a quart every ~300 miles.
The car itself is in good shape. No rust, a few dings, but nothing major besides the motor. It books for around 12,000 so I figure I can get half the book. (I hope!) I think the car would be a good deal for a budget minded racer who could rebuild the bottom end and use all the top. So with everything else in good/fair shape, do you think this is a fair price? ------------------ 1995 GT Black- Edelbrock 6037's,Intake,Edelbrock cam,70mm TB,75mm pro-m,Taylor wires, pulleys,Equal length headers,K&N filter Flowmaster,3.73's, Eibach pro rate springs lower control arms Centerforce clutch New motor in the works! |
hey diddy- The problem is that the car goes down in value when it has mods. If my car was stock I could get much more.
I only want to sell the car to someone who is planning on rebuilding the bottom or getting a long block. I'm not sure how much life she has left. What sort of prices have you seen? The car has to be sold "as is" because of mass lemon laws ------------------ 1995 GT Black- Edelbrock 6037's,Intake,Edelbrock cam,70mm TB,75mm pro-m,Taylor wires, pulleys,Equal length headers,K&N filter Flowmaster,3.73's, Eibach pro rate springs lower control arms Centerforce clutch New motor in the works! |
I have seen slightly moded 95's between 6,500 and 8,000. I think with the oil situation you have, selling to somone who wants to rebuild the bottom is a good idea. With thd mods you have, im sure a budget racer will snatch it up with a price at or below 6,500.
good luck |

Just wondering if it could be valve guides that are sucking oil? Doesn't have to be the bottom end (rings). Have you done a compression test? Or better yet a leak-down test? Might not be such a big deal to fix the oil burning problem. Just a few thoughts.

That is a very good point. I have to get on that. Thanks Rev, it could be the heads.
