The Fast and The Furious

I know this is a little early seeing how this movie does not come out until June 22, but anyway I was wondering if anyone besides myself plans on going to look for a little racing action with all the import guys that will be out that night. I know they will itching to race after they see that movie and I am going with some friends to a theater where a few import clubs will be in attendance. Just wondering that's all.

Racing Action!!!!Hell YEAH... http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif THere will be copouis amounts of burnt rice on the streets the 22 and 23rd of june. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

The hard part is deciding which car to use to cook that rice. My old beast with the 289, or my new stang, any one have any suggestions? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

...something about getting beat by an old "workhorse" that takes the life outta ya...

Although when I was an import driver I never lost at all. But of course there wasn't an abundance of modded stangs either....but most of 'em wouldn't have hung anyway.

I'd say the old, it will make the little sh1ts feel worse. See if you can find some nice stamped steel wheels to put on the car too.

I find that personnally, I get more scared of racing the old 5.0's. Why? If I wanted a really fast and cheap car, I would pick up a 87 5.0 for $3000 or less and dump a $10000 motor in it. They are the cheapest cars to mod!

It is more rare to see new stangs that are really fast (12's) here in Ottawa.

Try Me 05-01-2001 09:22 AM

I'm told a couple of local speed shops will set up some expositions within the theatre parking lots. You can expect opening night here in Ottawa to be a freakin' Street Racing Festival http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Yeah, Guess I'll take the old one out. It doesnt have Rims, its got Hub Caps. The car looks 100% stock on the outside, doesnt sound it though, nor does it accerlerate like it. I'm not sure which is faster, my old 64 1/2 or my new one.

Guess I'll take the 100+ lbs of tools out of the back and take the Hub caps off. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif Possibly even Idle it up to smooth it out, the Rumpty cam, and the car rocking back and forth might give it away. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif Well Hell I dont think they understand that anyway, they'll probably think the cars missing and skipping. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

No, I am not scared. When I go see the movie, I will be in the rex for that very reason. Anything running slower than 12.00 on streets has no chance. I can't wait til the Route 66 Rendevous this year in San Bernardino either http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

Here you go!! Why would you need more than 700rwhp on a street car? If you really want that kind of power, go for the T88. If a 2.6 and a 3.0 I6 can make over 1,000whp with a T88, what do you think your car could do?

Thought about T88.. but it'd be easier for me to use one or two 76's... havent decided..

not really a street car.. streetable however with boost controller.. Tho it'll rarely see more than cruising around. Who knows.. i change my mind alot http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

Don't get two T76's unless you like turbo lag. One would be fine and wouldn't give that much lag given your displacement, but two will be really bad. If you are going to go twin turbo, I suggest you go with two t3/t04e turbos. You will have quick spooling and high horsepower potential. My car is making 453 to the crank with a stock head on 22lbs of boost with a t3/t04e from my measly 1.6 liter engine.

SkarodoM 05-05-2001 04:59 PM

i want a max pressure ratio of about 2.2 - 2.5... thats 20-25psi

motor should flow 585.13cfm n/a at 6000rpm and .88Ve

outlet Temp = 530degR (34.7psi/14.7psi)^.283

So.. 675.8degR - 460 = 215degFideal outletT

adiabatic efficiency.. say 72% so 215-70 is a 145deg temp rise. 145/.72=201degF + 70degF = 271degF outlet temp

Density ratio...
(530degR/661degR) x (34.7/14.7) = 1.89 density ratio

1.89 x 585.13cfm = 1107.49cfm x .069 to convert to lb/min = 76.41lb/min MAX @ 20psi and 6000rpm On the t-76, map is hard to read, but it appears above 70% http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

As far as surge limit... Say.. i want half PR (10psi) by 3000rpm.. so 1.68PressureRatio

Thats 292.6cfm at 88%Ve

Toutlet = 530degR (24.7/14.7)^.283 = 614degR or 154.2degF, minus 70degF ambient (the 530degR) so 84degF ideal rise. If using 72% again.. 84/.72=117degF actual rise

70degF+117degF=187degF + 460 = 647degR

Density ratio is.. (530degR/647degR) x (24.7/14.7) = 1.38DR

292.6cfm x 1.38 = 403.8cfm x .069= 29lb/min

I cant read the %ages clearly but that too appears to be above 70%efficiency.

Thats a single t-76... Ive still got some cackerlatin to do.. may go for two t-66's I'd prefer to have two.. however with one big turbo.. it wont take too long to hit the boost threshold.. so im not too worried about lag.

That is exactly my point. Two T66's would have lag as they are pretty big turbo's still. Once again, I say two T3/T04E turbos would be the best if you are going twin. Look at the compressor map for the T3/T04E.

Yeah... not too concerned with lowend power.. kinna want less than 6psi til 2800rpm or so...

still hafta pic alot of stuffs and figure out what exactly i plan on doing with the car before i put a turbo as big as a shortblock on it lol

not in a hurry.. if i get this 92gt i found.. already has a forged bottom end.. thinking of turboing it http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/wink.gif

If that is what you want....you plan on having a big gear in it? I am going with a T04e with my Supra and I want it to reach max boost(12lbs is my plan......for now) at around 4500 as I don't want to change out my 4.30....

Street, if that is correct i wouldn't be surprised to see it climb to cult status 15-20 years from now. Kinda like Mad Max's interceptor. people are making replica's of it all over, and the original had to be tracked down (there were actually 2, one for close-ups and one for driving scenes). i don't remember if they ever found it, but either way it (or a replica) is sitting in a museum in england...fake roots blower and everything. i wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that happens with that eclipse.
