Do they really believe that a semi couldn't run the gnat-mobiles off the road?

The few races that they had were ridiculous. They did the races like they were riding horses. The nitrous was used like the jockey beating his horse toward the end for a little extra boost.

The first race had a $2000 entry fee, but our hero decides to put up the pink slip for his $80,000 car. I laughed out loud when I saw the computer stuff in his car. Sheesh. I wonder how much extra power he got with that scoop to nowhere just above his windshield....

The leader of the Chinese gang supposedly had $100K under his hood. He should have a 6 second car for that kind of money.

I could go on and on....

and back to the way those things sounded, i could hardly breath until the mad 900hp beast at the end was cranked up....

besides gone in 60 seconds, there MUST be a movie with nothing but high-powered muscle-cars kicking asphalt. THAT would be a must see.

out of 10, i rate this movie at about a 6 in the entertainment area. as far as realism, about a 2. and the acting, about a 6. that's a grand total of 14 out of 30. compared to the 25 i give gone in 60 seconds.
Great reviews guys. MANY of your sentiments I share to EXACTLY. You've saved me much typing time.

For a movie, I'd say it was okay. It'd would've been alot better though if I knew next to nothing about cars.

The first race between the four cars (the star, Diesel, the guy playing Gran Tourismo, aned the black dude), how far were they racing?????? I dunno, it just seems that their 1/4 mile was longer than the one I usually run. Maybe they were running a 2 or 3 mile race. But for cars going 130+ mph, I'd think the race wouldn't last so long, and there wouldn't be no time for checking your email on the computer either...

How does a Supra with street tires (or drag radials) even come close to keeping up with (on the launch) a car on slicks that just pulled off doing a high flying wheelie????? The Dodge just had WAY more traction. Simple.

Also, not to say that only Asians drive imports, but I have many Asian friends that are in the import scene, so why were the only Asians I saw, part of that broke down little mofia??? What are they saying there?

Favorite parts: The guy playing Gran Tourismo (I busted out laughing). The race between the Ferrari and the Supra. When dude lost the race in his Jetta, and took off .

Favorite import in the movie: Skyline GT-R

And like jimberg said already, there's alot more, but I have other things to do.

All in all, being that it was a MOVIE and that there are always elements or fiction if most movies, I liked The Fast and The Furious, but would have been just fine with a movie rental. IMO, it started off kinda weak, but as the plot thickened, I was able to get more into it.

Using Tod's scale, out of 10,
Entertainment = 8
Realism = 4
Acting = 7 (mostly b/c of Vin).
Total score = 19 out of 30

Hey, think about this. Why were there no races where some import annihilated a Mustang, Camaro or Viper??? You woulda think they'd love to put that in there......
