Fastest you've ever gone...car, bike, fighter jet?

I know this is one for the lounge or street racing, but I'd like to hear from the windsor boy's! Whats the fastest you've ever gone driving or riding? whether it was a car or a bike or an F16?:D :D :D

And don't B/S please.

jerrys84 05-24-2002 03:54 PM

commercial airlines 747, torque is awesome during takeoff..

gtsr515 05-24-2002 04:13 PM

How 'bout it!, never thought of that one, what do you suppose a big airliner like that needs to take off? As cruising speeds are like 200-400 mph right?

Mike Souslin 05-24-2002 04:29 PM

550 Knots in a KC-135 refuler while filling up F-16's over the UP of Michigan. If anyone wants pics I got some sweet ones! Seeing those fighters in the air was the most amazing thing that I've ever seen!

gtsr515 05-24-2002 04:46 PM

WOW! 550 knots? what is that in MPH?

and YES! lets see the pictures!!!!!!!!!:D

chatcher 05-24-2002 05:07 PM

190mph on the speedo (zx-11)

1995MGTS 05-24-2002 05:43 PM

The fastest I have accelerated was 0-160KIAS (184mph) in ~2-2.5 seconds. It was a night cat shot off the Connstellation in 99. Since I don't fly fast movers, I would say 430KIAS coming into the break at Pensacola flying T-2C's years ago. I go slow now.

gtsr515 05-24-2002 05:46 PM

WOW, thank god for steam!

I swear I saw a road test on a modified ZX-11 that went 0-60 in 1.3 seconds.

joe4speed 05-24-2002 11:53 PM

well i think the FASTEST i've been was in an airplane, but the FASTEST I've driven was probably 140 in the STANG, 115 in the OLDS (electronically limited  ), and an indicated 170 on the ninja. (we all know bike speedos aren't very accurate!!)
I have the 160 vid of it though... Click here!!

fiveohpatrol 05-25-2002 12:04 AM

I had the needle buried on my 140mph speedo, then i tried to slow down and the clutch cable SNAPPED!

Hopefully one day after college I'll be averaging 231mph around the IMS 2.5mile oval.
Anyone else goin to the 500 on sunday?

LOCASH 05-25-2002 01:41 AM

I am an F-16 crewchief. I got an incentive ride last year in the back of a D model and I threw up a lot after we landed. As soon as we took off he went vertical, I didn't look at the altimeter or airspeed indicator though. It totally changed the way I think about my job and the pilots. Lasted about 1.2 hours.

Spark Checker 05-25-2002 10:57 AM

my stang is slow but I was also a crew chief on several aircraft. I got several flights in a T-38 Talon trainer. Went mach 1.2! what a feeling I dont think many people here can say they did that. I currently work on F-15 fighter the "Eagle". I am still awaiting my ride on that jet my goal? "MACH 2" :D

Deliberate posting in the wrong forum

I know this is one for the lounge or street racing, but....

Please respect the intent of the individual forums as they are constructed and do not purposely post non-tech messages in the tech forum as they will only have to be moved.

Thanks.

i agree those lateral g's are a trip at 200 mph on take off :D

fastest open air ride=Aerosmith Rockin rollercoaster at Walt Disney World. 0-60 2.3 seconds!!

particleeffect 05-25-2002 03:28 PM

ofcourse ive been on comercial jets, but the fastest ive drivin is a meager 100+ mph on i95 headed to south florida.

The Deuce 05-25-2002 04:52 PM

I've done a measly 110 on the interceptor and I got the needle pointing straight down in the escort. That is one where 85 is at about 4 o'clock, and that is where the numbers stop. I think I've broken the century mark in just about everything I've owned. :D

7up 05-25-2002 05:30 PM

I have been 143 in my old Supra Turbo, and about 120 in my Mustang when I beat a 300 gt vr4(oh yeah).:D

polara7777 05-25-2002 08:03 PM

Been on several planes but the fastest I've driven was 110 on the lil ninjette and 20mph (yea 20) in the dodge. (Of course it was on it's second trip around the speedo! :D :D :D The speedo has a listed 120. Fun stuff that big heavy boat actually starts trying to go airborne at that speed. Started drifting towards the median divider. I try and keep it under 140 now.:p

Mr 5 0 05-25-2002 08:10 PM

Top speed

130 mph in my Mustang, 210 mph in a single-engine four cylinder (150 HP) Piper Warrior airplane at about 4000 feet - as a passenger, not a pilot (last week).

Airliners probably shouldn't count but 550 mph at 35,000 feet in a Boeing 747 - more than once.

1fastchick 05-25-2002 11:28 PM

157on a bike and then 135+ in my stang and ummmm I think around 120 in my old 93gt

6T9PONY 05-26-2002 01:33 AM

I had my old '69 Coupe up to about 120-125 mph....I've had my dad's '00 Grand Cherokee up to almost 110--redlined in top gear going down hill....I've had my Ranger up to about 85 is all, I haven't played around with it much at all. I did G-Tech it though. 19.29@72.9 mph. I was proud of it for dipping under 20.:D:D That thing will easily do 100 though, I'll have to go do that someday just to say I have.;)

I travelled about 45-50 mph on a bicycle last summer down a really steep, long hill. My dad is really into biking and has a little computer thing on it that says your trip distance/total distance/speed/average speed, etc. I was using his bike, a Trek something-or-other. Pretty big rush. I was dumb for not wearing a helmet or other protective gear.

andy669 05-26-2002 10:44 AM

The speedo on my 89 FZR 1000 was so far off its hard to tell how fast I was going. I do know that it would go 130 in the 1/4 all day long. I'm guessing the fastest I ever had it was around 150. (speedo showing like 170)

andy

rbatson 05-26-2002 10:47 AM

I had a VMAX and the top advertised speed was 145... I had to try it. Scary without any wind protection, thought I was gonna get blown off that sucker:D. The speedo goes to 85 in the mustang sooo... over 85;)

moc 05-26-2002 06:00 PM

WOW

Don't need to brag to much ! but here we go 1980 backseat of a bran new F-15 D modle Kadena AB , Okinawa 1 hour sortie
hit AfterBurner at least 15 ,20 times , 850 to 975 Knots I flew the A/C for 20 mins got sick ( barf bag ) ( very hot day, big breakfeast, very nervous) was awarded crew chief of the month for Sep . NEXT 1982 F-16 B modle ( new what to do ) I hour sortie ,Nellis AFB Las Vegas. Cool flight , hit A/B alot but never seem to go over 600 Knots , I flew for over 30 mins , same deal crew chief of the month for Feb. ( and I got the plaques to prove it. Nothing like that !! Have had 4 different Ninjas , and 7 Mustangs . Bikes are the Quickest on the street by a super big marjin ( but for the Fear , Torque ,Factor ) It was the F-15 hands down ;)

1fastchick 05-27-2002 09:40 AM

Maybe if you had a real bike instead of "one of those ninja bikes" the rush would have been a bit better for you?? :) j/k

2000stanggirl 05-27-2002 10:42 AM

The fastest I've driven is 142 in my '95 Impalla S/S, and runner up is 135 in the Stang. Now that the chip has been reprogrammed and the limiter is removed...I'll have to see what the Stang can *really* do top-end.

moc 05-27-2002 02:54 PM

Yea

Smokedawg 05-28-2002 11:39 AM

In car--City police say I was going 138mph..

Plance--Boeing 777 cruising at 500+

crewzin 05-28-2002 10:22 PM

Faster, faster, oooohhhh yea baby

Ive been fast a few times but the ones that stand out are on my 7RR (170+) and in the vert with the top down at 165ish. But i would rather talk about how fast you can go around a corner with your knee draggin and pegs folding up on ya. :D

Rice Hunter 05-29-2002 09:11 AM

145 on my CBR, my brother a while ago took me out on his GSX-R 750 and he claims we got up to 160.... I couldn't see, but he always smokes me on his bike (I just have a little 600:p ).

Rice Hunter 05-29-2002 09:14 AM

Oh yeah, and for crewzin, I scraped the peg on my old Shadow taking a winding turn at 80:D . Looked bad after that, had to replace it. Haha, that's when I decided I needed a sport bike instead:p .

moc 05-30-2002 09:26 PM

Yea Man

crewzin , I'am with ya brother !. You make me think about this park outside the city limits of Las vegas ( can't think of the name of it) what a cool place for some peg scraping, it's one way in and one way out ( 18 miles long) of some of the best turns I can remember , it had like , 12 wicked left handers, and 10 rights. It was a mecca for sport bikes back in the day ( It's been awhile) but this place was so crazy ,that on weekends they would station a flight for life chopper near by !! ( for your typical rich kid ,that just rolled in with a bran new 1100 with 15 miles on it ) no kidding.. ! If anybody can recall the name of the park I would really like to no .. just had to tell you that !
;) :D

father joe 06-03-2002 03:08 PM

Hey! That's exactly what I saw when running from the NJ State Ghestapo on route 295 last year. Same speedometer, same indicated speed. :D :D

You gotta admit, the ZX-6R is GREAT for wind protection at high speeds. The 929 damned near beats me to death.

For those who wanna flame me for going that fast, I don't normally ride that fast, but I REALLY could not afford a ticket that day.

I actually did that run for this website:
http://www.fortunecity.com/silverstone/studebaker/396/
wound up placing 3rd in my horsepower range, but I haven't been there for a while, and I'm sure I've been pushed down the list. It's a really cool site, and the webmaster, Magnus, is a cool guy too.

Pretty cool site. Course......most of those speeds are BULLSHIT without the "yellow box" to correct the factory 3-8% high set speedometers that Japanese bikes come set at. :D

Nevertheless, a cool site.
