Angry Fed Up W/ My Cd Burning Software

OKAY DAMMIT! I've been trying to burn various 'stuff' onto disks for a week now. I've had it w/ the crap that came on my Crapaque pc. It came w/ the Cequadrant/Just Burn. Now it wont let me format the damn disk to burn.
Anyone got any suggestions for a GOOD, EASY CD burning system that WILL WORK? This is frustrating and I think I kicked something loose in my pc.
Please give me suggestions for a good CD burning system that I can install that is EASY to use and IDIOT PROOF!
If this had worked, Id been in bed 2 hours ago!
HELP!!! ASAP!

Your trying to format your CD? Unless it's a CDRW (RW - Rewritable) that will be your first problem. CDR's (Recordable). So I suggest getting a brand new CDR stick it in your CD-Rom download Nero, if you want I can email you the program (full version of it) that is the best program to use I find. Basicly you put the cd in open the program follow the wizard to what type of CD you wish to creat (VCD, Music CD, Data CD etc) and then it's just a drag and drop kind of thing you click burn the cd, select the speed you wish to burn it at. (What speed burner do you have?) and just let it be, you'll most likely see a red light on your CD-Rom glow and flash indicating the CD is burning.

Hope this can help alittle,
§am
PS. If any questions email me or PM me.

I also have the full version

but go with Nero...it doesnt lock up..adaptec's easy cd creator locks up all the time, thats why i switched to Nero...so basically the guy who wore a toga thousands or years ago is your key to burning a compact disc in the year 2002...

Nero is very good but I also like Clone CD. I have both but tend to use Clone CD the most.

You should have gotten a copy of win98 if that was preloaded. I would call your computer store and yell at them. What kind of burner is in there? A lot of OE burners are crap, which may be your first problem. Turn off your virus software if you have it and I never run anything but my burning software when I'm writing a cd.

I use Roxio and easy CD creator. They are about 90% sucsessful. Also, burners don't work well hot. Get some decent software to start, and let us know what happens.

By the way, what kind of computer is it (and speed stuff too)?

Thumbs down its a CRAPAQUE!!!! (that explains it!)

Crapaque. Its about 2 1/2 years old. It DID NOT come w/ the disk! WHY???? I dont know!!!!! I just had more memory added to it a few months ago, and with all the times it crashes, it would prolly be a good idea to do a defrag and all that but it takes so damn long.
I didn't know to shut everything down when your burning! I usually have my Kazaaz going, doing email and editing pictures at the same time! Is this not a good thing?
The burner is Cequadrat/Just Burn...I tried to go to the 'website' and i only got a "page cannot be displayed". They prolly went Belly up.... It also was pre-installed into the computer... TNT

Yeah, the burners are pretty tempermental. Especially older ones. They need quite a bit of resources to work properly, so I would shut all the other stuff off.

Start the defrag before you go to bed and it should be done in the morning. Make sure nothing else is running (even a screensaver) and turn the monitor off. I do it about once a month and it only takes two hours.

Also, disk clean up and scan disk are your friends. Do each one a week, and it will help speed things up a little bit.

By the way, I DELL just shipped my brother a 2.0ghz tower with all the goodies for about $550. Just a thought if you're looking to upgrade sometime in the future, slickdeals.net gives the heads up on DELL specials, and other interesting stuff.

If you do the maintenance on the Compaq, it should work for you though.

I use easy Cd on POS ME and really have never had any problems. Ive heard Nero is good too which ill probably get when i get my own comp instead of my parents' (AMD athlon and XP here i come )

Oh and Compaq is pretty crappy as ive heard but im sure you know that already!! Custom building is the only way to go if you know people who can do it.

Also i wouldnt be on kazaa while you try to burn a cd. Kazaa can freeze up your comp too sometimes which is why i recommend Kazaa Lite if you can find it. It doesnt have spyware and seems to run more smoothly

Later,
Nick

I hate Windows ME my brother runs it and it's a POS. I have XP on my PC right now and I hate it aswell, cool features but not very practical, but I'm running Windows XP Pro. I'm thinking of going to Windows 2000 Server tommorow. Gotta love working for IT for your goverment, I can get any software pretty much.
And yes I definitly wouldn't have Kazaa open, that's alot of bandwidth, + your transfering your files (uploads/downloads) so your hard drive is working to write and read those files + read files for burning so that can not be a good mix. I would just leave your computer for the time it's burning and that should help. As for defrag that is a good idea, do a scandisk too. Do it while you sleep or if you go out for a day. If your computer is a Compaq it should of came with drivers or setup files on one of the cd's or you can check there website I'm sure.

I agree about XP being crap. I have XP pro and hated it so bad, I had to go back to Windows 98'. I still dont understand the hype over XP. It gave me more problems than anything else.
