Post Finishing/Replying.........When you post a Topic.

I wanted to post somthing about this before.

I HATE it when you answer a question or comment on a topic and the person whom posted it,does not EVER respond

Persons in here take the time to answer problems for free, where a shop might charge. Somtimes they may even go look up somthing in a book, for YOUR answer to a problem.

I thank all whom have answered my questions.

Just venting

I agree with mustangII460. If it looks like someone went to some trouble or gave serious advice, one should at least acknowledge it. If it's just a comment (like this one), then there's really no need IMHO.

I know what you mean. About 2-weeks ago some new member posted in the windsor form asking what the ratios are in the T-5, and how to determine your MPH depending on what gear your in. So, I give him a link to a site that has the ratios, and typed up a sizeable math formula with a description for him and didn't even get a thanks.

Granted, he was new, but it kinda pissed me off.

I can understand how you feel but i got a question for you now, if someone asks a tech question and gets a bunch of advice from more than one person what do you do then, thank each one?? or is a simple thanks everyone enough??

A simple 'Thanks to all who responded' would be enough as it shows you appreciate the replies. Some folks just don't think and I suppose some just don't care, but MustangII460 has a valid point.

If you think putting responses on the messageboards and never receiving acknowledgment is annoying, try getting a steady stream of e-mail asking for tech advice, and only receiving a 'thanks' from about 20% of those you responded to.
This is 1/2 the reason that I never reply to e-mailed tech questions anymore; the other 1/2 being that I simply don't have the time and of course, I don't have a lot of the answers folks are seeking, either.

Advice to all who choose to ask for help from 'strangers': Learn how to say 'Thank You'.

what if someone says thanks in advance in their question? just wondering about the "technicalities" of this discussion.

most of my posts are replies to a post someone started and i know how it feels to give advice and not hear from person, make it a point to thank people here for any advice and let us know if there advice help u any.

Hmmm...

You know, that's never really bugged me too much. I know my answers are appreciated, especially if it's able to help somebody. I know firsthand just how hard it can be to post something on this messageboard with a crappy dial up. Navagating is even hard. Connections timing out, 10 minutes to post a "Thanks"

It's just an added bonus to see a thanks.

I reply to help people, not to receive a "Thank you" If they do actually respond with a "thanks" does that require me to respond with a "Your welcome?" It's only polite.

The net isn't like real time conversation, in which case I always thank people, or tell them they are always welcome.

Bottom line, I'd like to get thanked, but I don't let it get to me when I don't get one.

I totally agree.

I generally put Thanks at the end of my original post 99% of the time. This means that I am thankful to all who respond. I go back anyway though to respond to people who have helped me out by way of a post or via email and thank them personally, especially if their advice helped me out in any way.

See my old post in here thanking a bunch of guys.

Gratitude should be expressed to anyone who takes time out of their busy day to help out a fellow Stanger. I've even done web design for people who have helped me out
