Ford vs. GM in the movies
A friend and i were having an arguement about cars in movies. i said that more movie cars were Fords than GMs, which he contested. a car counts if the company that makes it is currently owned by wither Ford or GM (i.e. James Bond's Aston Martin counts for Ford, James Bond's Lotus counts for GM). So far i've thought of these:
For Ford: GT500 from Gone in 60 Seconds Aston Martin DB5 Aston Martin V8 from Bond 1973 Mustang from the original Gone in 60 Seconds Mustang from Diamonds are Forever Ford Falcon's from Mad Max movies (including the interceptor) For GM: Bandit's Trans Am Lotus from Bond Chevy from American Graffiti can anyone think of any others? ------------------ If it ain't broke, make it go faster AOL: MCVillain45 |

Bullit. BOTH gone in 60. In this argument, I would only count the core manufacturers; Ford gets Ford, Lincoln, Mercury, and things like the Mazda MX-6 (probe) and S-Type. GM gets GM, GMC, Olds, Caddy, Chevy (too many divisions, thats why they are failing!). Things like Volvo, Aston-Martin, Jaguire(?), are owned by ford, but ford doesn't put too much control over them. Same thing with the GM counterparts, Lotus, uh I don't know any others.... http://www.geocities.com/csmcaz//ponymovies.html

What about the Ford coupe that raced the '55 Chevy in American Graffiti? Or Suzanne Somers' Thunderbird? Or the T-Bird in 'Thelma & Louise'? Speaking of Ford coupes, how about 'The California Kid'? How about that oh so cool looking Ford wagon in 'National Lampoon's Vacation'?
Good topic... (edit: There was that bus in 'Speed'...I think it's a GMC) [This message has been edited by Token Right Guy (edited 03-25-2001).] |

That is a tough one since there are more movies mad with cars in them than without. Come to think of it I haven't seen to many movies that don't have a car in them. I mean the list can go on and on for doth sides. It could take forever just with the james bond movies. Also in national lampons chirtsmas vactian they have a ford wagon. I think it would take a year to find all this stuff
