calling B.S. on my friend
My friend has a 97 z28 with a shift kit, cat back, 4.10's, and a K&N. He said that he just raced a 01 cobra and won by a car.
I didn't want to start any crap by saying the cobra guy couldn't drive or anything like that because he is my friend. What do you guys think?

It is entirely possible, When I was running a 15.2 I beat a 01' Cobra..............He spun 1st , spun 2nd fudged 3rd and pulled even with me right at the end. 15.20 to a 15.209
With your friends mods I would think he would be a good race with a 01' cobra.

In both cases the Cobra driver sucked.
I think in 97 the Camaro still had the LT1 right? I've taken LT1's in my GT. So a Cobra should be able to take one. However I think the driver makes all the difference and would not be surprised to see an LT1 take a Cobra (although I would probably say the Cobra driver sucked ) |

His car just may be a freak. We went to the track once and the first time he ever went to the line he ran a 14.2 on 17" street tires. I'm not sure what mph though.

That's about right, 14.2. I ran a 13.7 my first time out at the strip in my SS on 17 inch tires all stock.

Aren't '97 Z-28's LS-1's? Doesn't seem odd at all to me for that Z-28 to beat an '01 Cobra by .1 (1 length). I beat Cobras regularly or at least run even with them. LS-1 Camaros and Vettes still pass me near the 1320' line.

97 Z28's are LT1's.
