Wifes car running like crap need HELP
My wife came and got me out of the shower this morning to inform me that her Pony is running like crap. she said she noticed it last thursday but didn't mention it to me until this morning.Anyways.
the problem i'm having is that when you step on the gas it sputters alot and sounds like it is missing. I just did a KOEO test and came up with a code 34 something to do with the PFE or the EGR. Her car is an 89 GT. what do you great people at MW suggest i check first? any help would be greatly appreciated and the faster the better. Thankx, Mike |

Could be any number of things.
Does it always do it? Lower rpms/Higher rpms. Engine cold or hot? Based on initial hunch I'd guess the fuel injectors are clogged/broken/worn out. |

I agree. Sounds to me like a fuel problem. Possibly an ignition problem though. Doesit make any odd noises/smells? We'll need more info to diagnose your pony.

It only does it in the lower rpm's I havn't really run it to see if it still does it at a higher rpm. I already checked the plugs and wires and they are fine. there are no odd smells or noises other than the sputtering it does. almost makes it sound like it had an exhaust leak. i checked and there are none. how should i check the injectors?

If you are getting codes I would fix them first, then move on to the other areas.

You are going to want to check the codes first. Although on my car the codes haven't really lead to jack.
There are several possible causes for an EGR code failure: the TPS sensor, the MAF sensor, the PFE sensors and even the O2 sensors. All these sensors help the PCM to set the EGR valve. Double check the codes. Next I would take a DMM to some of the sensors. Of course I would listen to what some of these other guys said too. I'm not sure how similar the fox computer is to the EEC-IV on the 94/95's. ------------------ 1995 Mustang GT |
