Athletes and politics
Excellent article regarding black superstar athletes and the futile attempts of the Democrats to lure them into pimping for liberal causes.
Tiger Woods is more Asian than African (50% Thai, making Tiger 50% Asian, while his father is a mixture of black and white, making Tiger something less than 50% black) but race aside, he's a consumate golfer and his deft handling of the press and the political hacks who've attempted to use him is outstanding. The guy has class. He became my hero when, after winning his first Masters, he turned down an invitation to visit the Clinton White House and attend a reception in his honor, hosted by Bill Clinton. Too busy, he said. A slap in the face to the former President that was richly deserved, in my opinion, after what Clinton put this country through. Tiger Woods' refusal to be used as a photo-op by Clinton was admirable. As I said, Tiger has class. BTW; I loved this line from the article: When avowed Republican Charles Barkley was told by his grandmother that the GOP is the "party of the rich," Barkley replied, "But grandma, I'm rich." People who work hard and achieve success in life know that they weren't 'winners in life's lottery' as House Minority Leader Dick Gephardt once put it, but that they sweated and earned what they have and no politician pandering to them in order to get some kind of endorsement while he pushes bills to tax them to death is worth their time. Unfortunately, most of our black citizens have bought into the victimization myth and grow up believeing that 'You Owe Me'. The truth is that no one owes them - or me, or you - anything. The black athletes mentioned in the article realize that and made their own way in life, using the talent God gave them and making the most of it. They don't buy into the liberal politicians pitch that because you're black and famous, you have to be liberal and 'get behind' the usual liberal 'causes', whining about 'injustice' all the way. These hard-working athletes know better. America is far from perfect but it's also a great country to live, work and yes, succeed in, as they have. Tiger Woods certainly understands this as well as anyone, maybe more so, and without fanfare, he simply smiles that big, friendly smile of his - and then ignores them all. Good man. |
C'mon Mr 5 0, you can get a few more paragraphs in there. J/K :D
I agree with you completely. I don't even root for Tiger, but I do have respect for him. More so, after reading this article. |
