I just recently got an 86 in a 55 and that was 275.00 and 4 points off your license. That sucked, and it was the most ******* cop too. Said to me, "ever get a speeding ticket before?" and I said no, then he said well now you're f*cked. I know I was going 80 and that was it... he nailed me for 86 so he could get 30+ which is 100.00 more than a ticket for 84mph would be.

seems that things can go either way when dealing with the law ......last year i had a small town cop bump my speed up a few miles per hour ,...put me into the next higher fine range ........ ........but on the other side of the coin ,about six months ago a state cop cut me a big break by giving me a no-point summery when i blew past her at about 80 on a small country road (and it took her 6 miles to catch up to me) i can't really hold a resentment torwards the law .......for everything i was ever arrested for and treated harshly ,there was an equall instance that i was cut a break ......it all sorta balences out ......... mustangII460..........couple months ago , i was talking to a local cop in my area that stoped by to check out me and a couple of other cars ......he asked if my car was fast ,.....i told him it'd take about 15 seconds to commit a felonie..........he got a laugh out of that ...........in my life i've had some differantses with the law and i've met some cops who were pricks ,but out of the magority of cops i've met ,.....ive found that if you treat em with the same respect you would give anybody ,most of em are ok peaple and it just comes down to them doing there job ..........and to be honest i was never arrested for anything i wasn't guilty of  |
OLD GUY WITH 87 GT, is there really any good defense against a speeding ticket when you're caught on radar?
In my case, it was at night, on a back road and I was the only car on the road. He had his lights on before I ever saw him...never had a chance to slow down. Now that I hear stories about cops tacking a few mph on the tickets, I wonder if he did that to me so that I would be in the 31mph+ over the limit? Yes, I was speeding but I'm now wondering if I was actually going 77mph or perhaps a tad bit slower. He asked me if I knew how fast I was going and I said 70 and he said" no, more like 77 Would it be worth admitting I was going 70 or 75 tops but not 77 to a judge? |
The best defense when [ I ] pull over people is to be honest. It's usually what you say that tips the scales. " I wasn't speeding" guess what.
Ive stopped people going ten over and they lied, they got a ticket. Ive stopped people going fifty over, tell the truth, and be on their way. Several varitables to consider though. The main one for me is the truth. 82 GT. Did you look at your speedo after you saw him? If you did you may have let out of it . 7 mph difference is nothing. Id say the radar and your speedo are atleast 2-3 mph off each other. Plus if you lifted. Ive been in this buisness for many years and personally have never heard or wittnessed a officer adding any mph to a ticket. Although anything is possible. There are other ways to increase the amount of violations, seatbelt, lights, mufflers or what ever. It goes back to what you say, and how you say it, when your stopped. |
82gt .......i would have to say in most cases that peaple fight speeding tickits ,they lose and wind up going through more trouble then it's worth
sounds like the cop has a pretty solid case .....radar has been proven to be pretty acurate .............your only defence would be if the radar wasn't calibrated recently most likely if you fought this , it would wind up coming down to your word agianst his ........so even if you were going slower ,most likely the judge would side with the cop mustangII460 .......the occation i mentioned was a rare instance , .........out of the five times i've been clocked in the ol 87 ,4 times my speedo was right on the money ......the instance i was talking about ,i was clocked by vascar timing and what my speedo said was 8-9 mph slower then what the cop said i was doing (witch was 1 mph into the next fine range - 51 in a 35)was a smalle township cop and he didn't seem to be mad at me ,he was actually pretty friendly ,.......i pretty much sumed it up as his reaction time might have been a little slow and that was just the speed he dicided to put on the paperwork..........didn't think he did it milicoisly or out of spite ,i figured he wasn't big on fast cars and just wasn't going to cut me any breaks i was going to fight it and go for the same claim as mentioned above .....argue that i was speeding but not going as fast ......but well when i thought about it a day in court woulda meant a day of missed work witch woulda cost even more money then just paying for the fine ...... out of my experience ,being honest and admitting it when your guilty seems to get you alot more breakes then giving excuses ....most cops have heard em all anyway .........last time i got stopped was in delaware ,state cop pulled me over and asked why i was going 81 mph ........i told him " cause i couldn't get the car in front of me to go any faster " :D ........ he grined and wound up only putting me down for doing 75 |

There have been times I've argued with cops in the past, and they've let me go. Other times I've been just as nice, and honest as I could be, and I was given a ticket. For example the "North Carolina Pig" instance. |
Fireman, I see what you are saying but in all fairness, some cops are just assholes who are too fat and heavy to get a job doing anything else and some cops are pretty cool.
State cops have a ticket quota they must satisfy first before they can just start giving warnings and leaving people off. Sometimes it's all how a cop's day has been going that determines if you get a ticket or not. In my case though, almost 80mph, on a back twisty road that is only posted at 45 mph was too fast ( I admit myself). Trying to keep a pizza hot is not a good excuse(in retrospect). Like 460 mustang II said, there are a lot of variables involved with giving tickets. |

I'm not going to argue with you Fireman. It's not worth it.....really....it's not.
I guess they're not pigs unless they give you a ticket. Thanks for clearing that all up. |
Hmm. Looks like you're arguing to me.
No 82 GT I called him a pig, because he was acting like an a**hole. Like it just made his day that he could give me a ticket. NOW it's "cleared up". Unless you want to twist around something else I've said. |
Actually, I was originally siding with you because I've seen my share of cocky cops. YOU aparently didn't see it that way and got defensive because I "misquoted" you.
