Guitar players - What's this guitar worth?
I'm selling my Fender Strat to buy a Notchback for my Winter project. I don't have any pics of the guitar yet, but it's a cream color with the nicer white pic guard and there's not a single scratch on it. I'm not up on Strats to know what they are going for used so I was wondering if any guitar players on here might know what it would be worth. I paid $450 for it new a couple years ago and it has been played maybe a total of 4 hours since I bought it. Any time it has come out of the bag it has been well protected so it looks like new. I have a Tronix amp and a nice Fender gig bag that goes with it. Any ideas what kind of price to put on it? Thanks.

I say put it on Ebay with a reserve of $350 and see how much someone is willing to pay. Maybe someone really wants a Fender and will try to outbid. Its a good way to get money out of used instruments. (Good Pics help alot) Don't know how much the amp is worth, but I'd try to sell it seperately to get more money.

Look at the neck and see if it was made in Mexico, Japan, or the U.S.
The ones made in the U.S. and Japan generally go for more than the Mexican strats. If it's in new condition, I would go and see how much a new one goes for in your area and ask about $100 less for it.

It is a Mexican made Strat. I bought it new for $450 in my area. I know it's not worth as much as an American made one (it was all I could afford at the time), but I have a buddy who is probably the best bass player for a 100 mile radius (including Indianapolis) who also plays guitar and he said it's one of the best "action" guitars he's played. If it were on a shelf next to a brand new guitar you wouldn't know this one was used other than the fact you can see wear marks starting in the frets just slightly.
We have a local guitar store here which sells them used for $300+ so i put a $300 reserve on it on eBay. If I can't sell it for that I'm not going to sell it. Here's a pic:

as far as sound quality goes. Mexica strats sound and play just as good as American strats.

It's a nice looking guitar. Like new. You should have no problem getting $300. To a begginer all Fenders are created equal.
