Has anyone ever heard of...

Someone told me they are rebuilding a Mustang RS, (don't remember the year) has anyone ever heard of such a thing? I know I haven't. I know there is a Capri RS, but he assured me it was a Mustang. Any ideas on what it might be?

tireburner163 06-21-2002 11:23 AM

One one needs to lay off that brand X crack:rolleyes:

lol :D Yeh I've never heard about a Mustang RS. But I always seem to learn something new about Mustangs everyday. So I guess anything is possible. But I've yet to hear anything about one.

mustanggt350 06-21-2002 12:44 PM

Alright!!! I had to rely on the "Mustang God" for this one. I personally have never heard of such a thing. But this is what he had to say and I quote......

"I have heard of a Capri RS but not a Mustang RS. That does not mean that they don't exist though"

In other words it could be one of those rear dealer mods that were considered stock. Sort of like a California Special or a High Country (same car, one from California the other from Colorado). It may not have been that popular or they may not have made to many of them.

They world my never know.....:D

Shelby

The Fireman 06-21-2002 01:49 PM

Some people just don't know what they're talking about. I bet it's a Capri, and they think it's a Mustang or something like that.

mustanggt350 06-21-2002 02:18 PM

now, now, Don't dismiss here say until you can prove it is wrong. I have seen some WIERD dealer/stock options. i.e. paint sceames, cars that had options that should not have existed, and so on...

Mustang folklore is like the bigfoot theory, you are skeptical until you are staring sasquatch in the face. :)

Never heard of a Rally Sport mustang, capri... sure. I have seen capris that looked like a mustang but... the fenders always give it away.

Pretty Stupid!

OK, this kid is pretty darn stupid! I found out this morning the car is a 94-95 Cobra. One of the previous owners put "R" badges on it! Give me a freaking break! And he is trying to tell me it is an RS Mustang!

rbatson 06-22-2002 01:41 PM

Hmm.. what are you asking for that 94? Not saying that I'll buy it but.. I'm curious.

Well, this thread wasn't a complete waste of time.

We got to discuss sasquatch, sumo wrestling cats and we were able to all observe Chris attempting to connect with Shelby, which is interesting. Time well spent, I'd say.

So here I am in the redwood forest with mustanggt350 (my 1:18 scale die cast model) when this nasty smelling bigfoot comes running up at me. I didn't want to get my doc martins messy running through the dirt so I I told my sumo wrestling cat, fluffy, to sick the crap outta that greasy hairball with legs. After fluffy gives the ape man a severe beating I take a pic of him with my digital camera. Too bad it was getting so dark so I couldn't see him when I downloaded the pics. Hmmm... I decide to pick a Mustangworks member to hit on.

What the heck, I'll call Belle. :D 2 Rings and she picks up. So I'm getting my A-game going, and I'm thinking she's totally digging it, till I figure out Matt answered the phone and now he thinks I'm a homo. Damn. Oh well, thank god he didn't start flirting back. That would have been awkward, and how do you break that kinda news to the girl??

Now, who do I try the A-game with next?

I was just about to PM u about your name. So it really is Shelby, that is so cool.

mustanggt350 06-24-2002 08:30 AM

mustangman65_79,

Thank you:D, and no I was not named after a Mustang. Shelby is a southern girls name. My parents just seem to like it. Now it is a plus for my hobby. The only draw back is I can't get to close to the Shelby Cobras because I get wipelash from everyone saying my name. LOL

lol, that was a good one.

Mine is Kaspar, so I get a lot about being a ghost-so original:rolleyes:

Never whould have geussed it was a southern thing. Do u get a hard time about having a guy's name(u know, the other shelby, Carrol). Hehe, just realized that he had a girls name-lol.

It's one of those cool names that I could never get tired of saying. But if u and I ever met, u whould get whiplash from me talking about all the Shelby's mustangs driving around.

I'm willing to bet the farm that there is no such thing as a Mustang RS. I'm a big dork :D with TONS of Mustang history books, and I have never heard of such a model. But then again, once in a rare while its been rumored that I was wrong ;) so who knows?

I just got back from my first job of the day, and I turned it into a ZIP file, which reduced it to 1.2mb, and it still came back saying it "exceeded your storage allocation".

I'm running out of ideas. Let me know if you think of something, or get some more old mail cleared out.

It only took me all day to view that clip! Thanks Chris, it was worth it.

The Deuce 06-24-2002 05:45 PM

This thread gets my vote for biggest tangent. I've heard of Sumo Wrestling cats, but never an RS Mustang. But then I've never seen a GT Camaro either. :D

On another off topic,
Shelby-how do you feel about your name being associated with the Dodge Omni? My dad actually had one for about 6 months (insert shame here) and he said it was pretty quick. I don't know, I refused to ride in it. Just wonderin.

Heh, I intentionally put a little spin on everything. ;) Sasquatch became bigfoot, making a connection with you became Belle, your call name became the car. I was aware your name was Shelby. :) It only took me about 1 min to come up with the story, and I found it quite entertaining. Hehe.

The Mustang RS doesn't exist as a manufacturer option. As a dealer option, who knows. Not one that is highly coveted or well known. So in reality, to me there is no Mustang RS. I don't go for the dealer option crap. Worthless to me.

Actually, that little Dodge had some pep!! It may not have been the prettiest thing in the world, but it held it's own. My name is associated with lot of s**t. I think there is even gutters made by a company named Shelby something.

Just another Tangent :D

'Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;

Shakespeare Rocks!!!

Just thought I would throw another iron into the fire with that one!! :D

Later gator,
Shelby

Manufacturers option, I know for a fact that it was not. Dealer options, well there has never been a good way of tracking that information, there was just to much out there. I would not say it is worthless, but unless you have first hand experience with a dealer option, you never know if it is real or not. (i.e. round head supports for the 65-66) I saw it, it was a dealer option!! I have tones more, were that came from. That is what you get from traveling with a resto magazine!!! Like I said you never know until you can prove or disprove it with your own eyes.

A-game over, insert next quarter, (J/K);)

That was about the same time the Dodge Shelby Charger was out(mid 80s I believe), that was a pretty fast car at the time. I think it ran 0-60 at around 6 secs. Mr. Shelby worked for Dodge for a bit, I believe he tinkered with the Viper some too:)

rbatson 06-24-2002 08:14 PM

Oh and the only dealer options I would be interested in would be say... a Saleen, Steeda or something of that magnitude..

To each her/his own!!! My experience lies mostly with early model Mustangs (64 1/2-73). Although I have modified two SN95 bodies and I am working slowly but surely on my '91 Fox body. Dealer options to early model Mustang owner is like candy. I know, I know I am really bad with the comparisons. :D
