Default header gasket problems

i had my BBK headers installed almost a year ago. when i took it out in the spring and looked there were a couple bolts out, so i put them back in. Within about a month they came back out. So i took it to a shop to have them put back on right, but by this time my header gasket had already been ruined. I could hear the air leaking when i would get on it. So after they put the new gasket in and all new bolts i get it back and it runs smooth for a couple of days and less than a week has gone by and the leaking noise is back. All of my header bolts are still securly in thier place. Is this normal? what can i do to avoid having to get this gasket replaced all the time?

Make sure the gaskets are installed correctly. I had the same porblem with my bbk's I ended up using copper gaskets and stage 8 locking headers bolts oh an make sure the header flange and heads are clean!

I use the black Mr Gasket #5930 and tighten the bolts every month. 92 has a good idea with those locking bolts. Sorry coupe50h I've never used the fel-pros but usually the paperside goes to the head.

I had more of a problem than you. My headers were warped. So I had to use a regular mr gasket gasket with copper rtv. Never leaked again. I havent had a problem with the bolts backing out though.

Best thing to do is call them and specify what you need if you have any questions they can figure it out on the spot!
