Heated Friendly Debates...

Ive noticed people gettin more and more sensitive when we get into a debate here on this board. More recently the E vs B cam. Now always some name calling happens, but that is just the nature of things, I dont think anything was out of hand, and usually this can lead to a lot of good learning for everyone involved. The idea here is to get the best information to the person tryin to make a choice on what to run in their car. When mis-information is given, its best corrected as someone could make an expensive mistake on their vehicle.

I think we need to all be a little less sensitive and defensive, if we make a mistake and say something that we think is correct but isnt, how hard is it to say you were wrong? And don't get pissed off if someone says your wrong, defend and research your position.

Skyler

Crazy Horse GT 09-21-2002 12:14 AM

yes a good debate is ok, but when you start calling people idiot's, etc, well kindergarden is over, sheesh, good point skyman. ;) :D :D

The Deuce 09-21-2002 12:31 AM

Sky you are such a Moron! Don't you know that we can't debate because someone might be right, but worse someone could be wrong?

There is nothing right about being wrong and it definatly is not politcally correct. What is wrong anyway? Can't we all have our own right?

Man, my sarcasm must be running especially dry this week. I would have hoped we could all tell I'm just f***ing with him.

I don't understand why everyone is so touchy all of a sudden.

Judging by the smiles in their posts, I believe they were just f*cking with you, you moron.

BTW, what's up with the radiator?

Take care,

You just can't tell anymore, with everyone overreacting all the time. I'd hope the hippy and that kid playing in the sandbox were, just have to be safe.

BTW, I'm just going to run some stop leak and see what happens. Its just a small hole.

Here's something you might understand hippie!

"It's getting to the point where I'm no fun anymore, I am sorry."

Sound farmiliar?

Rev 09-22-2002 10:12 PM

Sorry, didn't mean to foment a problem. I'm outta this one.

Rev

Crazy Horse GT 09-22-2002 10:14 PM

Capri306 09-22-2002 11:34 PM

Can't we just keep this thread civilized? Please? I really don't wanna have to lock it, guys. Just a simple "j/k" at the end of your posts would clarify kidding or not. That and a little self-control. If you wouldn't want to read what you've posted directed at yourself, don't post it. Thanks. :)

jj_jonathon 09-22-2002 11:37 PM

whats that supposed to mean? now i'm not good enough for you? sheesh.....i cant believe after 12 years and 2 kids youre just going to push me aside like that capri... *sniff*..

Am I the only one who's still having fun here?

*Figured the hippie would catch on to the CSNY reference ala 'Suite Judy Blue Eyes'*

Capri-It is getting pretty darn hard to tell who is just being sarcastic anymore, what with all the whining and 'I'm leaving' garbage, eh?

Crazy Horse GT 09-23-2002 12:49 AM

hahaha, how many times do i have to tell you, i was joking, geez, no i was never a big cs&n fan, geez just drop it ok- really. :D :D

Back on the topic...

Skyler, you made a statement about how although the treads can become heated at times, there is usually some good information that can be learned. I agree completely. I was reading that cam thread and am still learning more and more about camshafts.

Unfortunately, sometimes the name calling/childish behavior gets out of hand and then there goes the thread.

The number one thing that made me join this site almost 4 years ago was the very helpful way that the members conducted themseleves on the boards. It just seemed like the posts had less of a 'I know everything and you don't so shut up!' and more of a 'Hey these are my experiences with that cam, or these heads, or whatever, and here is my advice'.

I'm not an ASE certified mechanic (I know, I know, I had many of you fooled :D ) so I know very little about cars, engines, tranny, brakes, and everything else on a car...but I have learned alot from these boards and from working on my Mustang. I hope that we can all lighten up a little and get back to helpful and resourceful posting as it's in everyone's best interests.
