Help with my brakes
OK this is gonna sound really dumb but I have never dealt with drum brakes only disc so I have no clue how to get these damn drums off the back
thanks |
Take the rear wheels off and the drums should just come off over the brake shoes. Now having said that, I've had lots of trouble sometimes getting them off.
If difficulties arise, use penetrating oil around where the drums fit to the axle. Try using a pry bar if necessary, but not too much force. A big wheel puller could be used if you had to. Usually though, the drums just pull right off with moderate effort. Rev ------------------ '66 Coupe, 306, 300 HP, C-4, 13.97 e.t., 100.3 mph 1/4 mi. |
Make sure the emergency brake is released, and back off the brakes by turning the star wheel through the small opening on the back side. Then, with a rubber mallet, hit the drum at it's edges a few times. This will break it free 99% of the time.
